Has anyone installed a AFCO aluminum rad in their '37 chevy and was it an exact fit? The fill neck on the AFCO looks shorter than the stock one.

I hadn't posted a general "progress" picture in awhile. So I figured I would, and start a new thread since the other one had gotten long. You can see the brake booster now (brake fitment), and the fender support is in place. The front cowl has had all the rust repaired also...

How-To
While having my AC system topped off with R12, as it was not as cool as it should have been. The AC guy when done with the job, and was disconnecting his gages from the compressor, a 3 second burst of Freeon and oil came out of the compressor or his lines to the compressor. We cleaned it (OIL) up best we could and finished the job when I got home. After talking to some AC people and a friend who has been into hot rods for over 50 years, they all said I need to have the oil replaced in the system as there w

Hey, just wanted to say that I enjoyed meeting all of you SR.com members that got together on Saturday. It's great to put some faces to names that I've seen for several years here on this forum.
Brent and I had a great time and really enjoyed our visit to Louisville. It's great going to shows away from home since we can see so many cars that we've never seen before. I don't think opening up to later year cars made much difference. I always enjoy seeing 50s cars (now that I own one), and only saw a couple of

I have been working on a problem with my 1404 500 CFM Edelbrock carb. I successfully changed the jets, metering rods and springs to a smaller size as the carb was running too rich. Upon reinstalling the carb and checking the idle speed I discovered that the PCV fitting on the front of the carb was not working. There was absolutely no vacuum at this port. Thinking that I had done something wrong I removed the carb again and checked to make sure that the gasket was not covering a port in the manifold. It was

Has anyone had experience replacing wood on older cars? My '36 Chevy has wooden door frames and wood body stiffeners where the body meets the frame. I have the wood to remake the door frames (and I sure don't look forward to it). But, my other concern is one of the body mounts is totally termite eaten. Never did I think I could ever say that!! Anyway, what is entailed in replacing this body mount wood once I get the body off the frame??

Well I finally made it to Louisville this afternoon. It was a pretty uneventful drive and I was happy to meet up with some of our great vendors. Special pricing, product catalogs and new items to demonstrate are all here....so where are you?

Got the hydraulic clutch all hooked up using a Speedway pull type slave cylinder. Used a vacuum pump to fill the system. Slave cylinder is pointed up 30 degrees with bleeder at the top. I get plenty of fluid out but I can push the clutch down with one finder...no resistance at all. No movement in the slave cylinder. Any ideas?

Wife and I jus tgot back from a vacation to the CA bay area, took a couple of days and traveled to Reno, NV for the first part of Hot August Nights, and took in Harrah's museum. Had a gret time, but people in the dry desert don't understand HOT. Even with 90°+ temeratures, with the humidity less than 25% it don't feel HOT like it does in OK or TX this time of year (over 90° and 60%+ hunidity).
It was good to get away from the 'same old cars' and see something different. One daily winner was a 48 Merc on

I have what i expect is among the most unique street rods ever, not only because of what brand it is but also because of what its power train consists of.
The car is a 1988 BMW 327 A Post Coupe. It retains it's stock front suspension w/ premium Monroe Gasmatic 60/40 strut inserts with the rotors and hubs converted from 4 screw in lug bolts to 4.5 x 5 GM intermediate lug pattern. The IRS rear suspension have been deleted in favor of a Ford 9" houseing a Strange aluminum center section, Ford Trac-Loc pos

Hemmings Nation, keep your eyes peeled. Blog reader Erik Miner wrote us to let us know that two of his fathers prized possessions, a 1966 Corvette convertible and a 1969 Camaro SS clone, were stolen from his fathers storage facility in northwest Arkansas July 27 or July 28. The Corvette theft is especially disheartening because Eriks father is the second owner and has had it since 1974. More on the cars:
1966 Chevrolet Corvette VIN #194676S127342. Sunfire Yellow, black interior, black top. Engine is 3

Hi, is anybody out there a member of this fine group of Rodders? I just joined up with them last week. I know I have told a few of them about this site, but never see any comments from anyone from this area. We are one of the host clubs for Nats North in Kalamazoo, and active in a lot of other fundraiser shows and cruises.

We are headed to Charlotte next weekend, to do the Nascar tour, shops, Hall of Fame etc. Is there anything else Hot Rod related happening there, to visit, or to see?? A drive thru the Smokey Mountains??
Any input is appreciated.
