How about your opinions on where to mount the battery in my 37? I need to move it out of the trunk and was thinking of mounting it to the frame inside the passenger side front fender. Would use a drop out box. Also any reccomendations on whose battery box to use? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the input so far.

Foxy--I need the space in the trunk. With the air tank and compressor for the air-ride I lose too much space. With the battery moved out I can mount compressor & tank on a shelf [actually raised area for the 9 inch] that's right over the rear end. Gives me a lot more usable trunk space if I relocate the battery.

Bigdude--Was the battery mounted directly to the floor under the seat or was it dropped? I'm really tight for room under the car with the exhaust routed the way it is. Also can't go below framerail bottom due to low clearance with the air ride.

HOTROD33, you have air ride with a tank. Do you really need the tank? I put air ride on the back of the roadster (for rumble seaters) and skipped the tank because I would only use it to level out the ride. Compressor is small and can be mounted (on mine) outside the panels in the rumble seat. What about behind the pass. seat sort of half and half in the trunk?

Mines mounted to the frame behind right front wheel, under the fender. Plenty of room. Made the box myself, but it's fixed, does not drop down. Car sits low enough, turn the wheel to the left and you have acess.

Check ( mr40s.com) Makes a nice bolt on box in steel or stainless. That bolts in behind the front wheel. Around $80.00. Also goes by the name Mr 40s Fatstuff..

OK, but it sounds like you're moving it back to the stock location. Drake probably sells a piece for that location.

I also remember seeing an article on a drop down box, mounted to the outside of the frame rail, but I don't remember magazine. Box was about $125, ouch! Try searching old articles in Street Rodder, or Rod &Custom. Curiosity, why move it from the trunk?
