I have my 39 Chevy listed on this site for $32,000. I get a phone call from Gateway Classics asking if I would consider listing it with them at $150.00 for 3 months sometime in Sept. I said I would think about it. Two weeks went by and they called again. I told them I was still thinking about it. I got a letter in Oct for a special rate of $90 for 3 months. I did not do anything about it. On Oct 27, I received another letter for a special free consignment for 90 days. Now I am interested. I called to confirm this and told them I would need to get about a week to get this lined up and delivered because it is a 250 mile trip one way. I need to make arrangements for this and they agreed. I find friends to help me get there and back, so I call and tell them it will be there on Wed. Keep in mind the only way they know I have this car it is on this site for $32,000. They called back the day before my trip and asked what I wanted for the car. I tell them $29,000 and I will work with them. They said they would only take the car if I would take $18,000, very misleading. The lesson learned is that I know it is easier to buy a car then to sell one. What do you folks recommend in selling a car. cwhipple@qconline.com |
