My wife was going to work with a crock pot of sloppy Joes on the front floor of her car. A deer ran out in front of her and the crock pot went flying . Needless to say there was sloppy joes all over her carpet. After getting the big stuff up I could not get the grease off the carpet. I tried all the carpet cleaning products I have. I was getting worried that getting it clean was not going to happen. Last resort, engine degreaser. Man did it do the job. I sprayed it and scubbed it with a brush. Then hit it with my rince and vac. Floor looks like it did before. I am alway willing to try new things. I thought I would pass on this to the rest of you.

See YA!

Dave

its a shame to waste good sloppy joes, especially on a cold winter night. Nice tip about the engine degreaser, i've seen some carpets that could use that after the dealer is through with working on the car.

You could also try dish washing maching liquid (cascade). It's made for removing grease and doesn't foam like the dish (sink) soap does.

I really like this web site. All of you gearheads and knucklebusters are very helpful.

If the carpet was clean, I'd a scooped it back in the pot and went on to work. Always heard you need some fiber in your diet.

I wish I had your information about 15 years ago. Back then I was driving my husbands 1969 Caprice to work with a crock pot full of cocktail weiners in sauce. Had to slam on the drum brakes to avoid some idiot and you guessed it sauce all over the floor. The floor rinsed off O.K. but the smell never did. Finally had to cut out that section of carpet and padding to get it out. He was thrilled.
