A friend of mine purchased a afco radiator at frog follies.I was there with him when he asked about a radiator for his model A with small block chev. Afco salesman said he had one that a customer had ordered ,then didn't take it. My friend purchaced the radiator. When he started to install the radiator it was 1" to narrow. Afco now is saying it was a special purchase and will NOT give him a refund. He asked them about trading the radiator back in for the correct size. They told him he is stuck with it. I also purchased a radiator from afco three years ago for my 38 chev. First one looked like it might fit a 29 A,second one had brackets on wrong direction, they told me my car had been wrecked .After much discussion they agreed to build me a new one. Got that one, brackets still wrong .So I disided to make it fit.Got it in ,filled it with water,BIG leak at top tank that had not been welded.Sent it back again. Finally got the radiator in,no leaks. I do NOT think I will buy from them again or recomend them to anyone.

every time someone comes up with something good some body copies it. usualy a former salesman or forman or such. saw this in the van industry. each time the quality goes down. it happened with wiring harness mfg. and the a/c mfg. stay with the originals, the only way to get a cheaper price is with cheaper products.

Sent Afco plans for a radiator for my 33 Willys 9 years ago. They made one ,I put it in and it is still working fine. Thought their work was exceptional. - dakotah

Seems like not fitting the car it was bought for is an on going Afco problem. A fiend of my also bought one at the Frog Follies for his '37 Chevy that was no where close to fitting. I've heard all the BS about Walker being high priced, but will tell you this, they fit the car you bought it for and are built to last. My last one was in the car 11 years and you couldn't overheat it. Despite more BS, copper radiators dissipate heat better then aluminum and in most cases are easier to repair. If its weight your concerned with, by all means use aluminum. It seems the longer your in this hobby the more we see of reproduction parts coming no where close to fitting the application they supposedly replicate. Forget about ChiCom parts, I won't use them.

I have been torn between Afco and Griffin (I really wanted a BeCool but they don't make one for my Car)-after looking at them, they both seem to be well made, but different ideas on how they should be made-this Post sure helps to get off of the fence!

I've personally never used a PRC radiator but was really impressed with their display at last years NSRA Nats. I've yet to hear anything negative about their products. Contact
Leon

thats one of the benefits of this site, you can get a good concensus on what are quality parts at reasonable prices without just opening up the wallet. 9 times out of 10 the highest priced isn't the highest quality. i don't put crap out on the streets, but i do try to save where i can by consumer shopping, looking for good product support & honest dealers who step up to the plate if there is a problem.

I use a lot of PRC's radiators and I sell quite a few all over the country. I try to keep it real simple. $425.00 and that is shipping included. There are other options like aluminum shrouds, trans coolers,

Check out PRCs website and you can see all the cool stuff they have.

for my 55 I have the full polished aluminum core support with deul electric fans, cross flow radiator and condensor...Very cool setup!!

I agree with the PRC comments. Installed one in my '39 a few months ago. Fit great, better surface area than stock (higher), looks good and cools fine.

I have had a Walker
in my '36 for 15 years and, with the exception of my polishing the solder off of the tank and causing it to leak, I have had no problems with it whatsoever and have put thousands of miles on the car. Granted, it is one of the older ones and the construction quality may have changed but have had no trouble with it.

I have had a total of 19 streetrods and four of them had Walker w/condenser and three of them started leaking at seam of top tank. The fourth is on car I have now and so far no problems at all and it was built in 2000 so maybe they had a problem and have it corrected now.All these units were on rods when I purchased.Several of my rods had Griffin and no problem at all.
