Thought I would put it out there and ask what some people prefer, Car Show or a Local cruise night. I like the cruise nights here in St. Augustine Fl. no pressure, everyones welcome and people have a great time and it's well organized.

As for the question "cruise or show", I prefer the cruises. However, in my neck of the woods some of our cruises attract 600 - 800 cars. I like the big shows like NSRA and Goodguys cause they gather dozens of vendors in one area for easy shopping. But for the most fun, I do prefer the smaller cruises.

Less pressure??? Where does the pressure come from...within maybe. I never feel I need to come up to someone else's standard so I just hum along and some people can't stand that. Cruise nites here in Lakeland, Fl are put on by different groups in different locations. If the groups combined it would be better. I always like to see a few guys that show up to bench race or just hang out. New cars every once in a while too. Rod runs are usually 500 plus miles away and the fun is getting there. Always new and exciting stuff you have never seen before. Good food too. Meet new people. Cost more but I like both just for the positive things each have to offer.

Hey, Bob.......just got back from Good Guys, Hershey. Folks on the outside call it a "show", but we call it a Rod Run. In 2 weeks is NSRA Nats East in York, Pa. The second largest Rod Run on the Planet !! Not a show to us, just hangin out havin' fun with old cars and great folks. Cruize nites, ditto, same as the '50s. Pay the UPS and will ship you many free trophies.

As usual, we have 21 rod runs on the 2006 calendar...plus many cruize nites !!

Too each their own.......all of it is super !!!

Fun with old cars, Jim

Jim - Nice meeting you and your wife at Hershey! Great looking delivery. Did you stay to the end? I was going to leave about noon, but then a fellow member of my car club got picked for Best Choppped and Dropped award (1953 Chevy), so I stayed to take pictures of him getting his award. Could have done with a little less wind, but the weather wasn't too bad. At least we all got back safely. Hope to see you at York in 2 weeks.

Bob

Definitely prefer cruise nights. And not just because the paint on my car looks better in the dark...

I realy like the cruise nights also. Just had one last Tue. night at the A&W with about 60 cars showing up which is pretty good for small town Parksville on Vancouver Island. Stayed & bs-ed for about 2 hrs. then went for a run of about 20 miles. What a great time summer is !!!!!

Well Willy's you have to remember....my car is a former drag racer and so it looks....driven. I don't try to come up to anyone's standard but a beautiful car is like a woman, sometimes the ones that have fewer miles on them are prettier to look at. Hee-hee

I like cruise nights as there is less power parking.....profiling and ...large dollar car worshipping. But still have to attend at least a dozen shows small and large just to keep abreastg of what is new.

I would have to agree that Cruise nights are my choice. Most cars are driven and not so much pressure to be perfect. I really like the early spring and fall cruise nights because of the cool air and good conversation.

Cruises definitely. More laid back and the grandkids like them better.

I really enjoy shows, but I hate being STUCK in one. Pull your car in and you're not leaving until at least 200 other cars move!

Gimme a cruise night anytime. I'd rather roll in, meet other car freaks, talk about how good we used to be, and leave whenever I'm ready. Truth be told, I'm usually the last one out.

Rodding is really about driving though, and I think most of us prefer driving to sitting in a parking lot. Our local club gets together on the first and third Saturday of the month, hangs out for about an hour, then cruises somewhere fun. Sometimes 40 cars will show up but only 5 will go on a short tour.

The only thing funner than one hot rod is two. Three is better, 5 is even better yet, and 40 cars rolling somewhere together is JUST TOO COOL!!!

So gimme a cruise, a cruise night, a 'gathering', a drive-in restaurant, or whatever you want. I prefer driving to showing, but showing is still a good time.

I gotta vote for both, shows cost you more but are fun getting there. Cruise nights are just cool to do. We have a cruise for everyday of the week around here. Just depends on how far you want to drive.

I prefer cruise nights also. The weather is nice now, where I live they have a weekly cruise at the local Sonic and have music and door prizes. {But I still go to the shows, too}
