Downs used to offer a '33 Vicky stretch limo. The body looked pretty nice but I have never seen a finished one. I think that would be neat way to hit the cruise nights!

Hell, I can't do 6 or 7 hours at a time in my 34 sedan, let alone a roadster or coupe. After that amount of time, I would probably be thinking about slapping a For Sale sign on the rear end. Got to get out every hour or so for gas, thank God, otherwise I'd be numb from my toes to my ears. Maybe I should have held out for a 34 limo.

If you can't ride down the road for 6-7 or more hours in your car, or have to stop every hundred miles or so to "get the kricks out", your car has one or both of two problems. The suspension of your car is not working properly and/or your car's interior is really beautiful but is not functioning as a comfortable place to be while riding down the road.

Both are correctable, the suspension may be a matter of adjustment alignment, tire pressure at little or no cost. The interior is not what you want to be wrong...is it?

Now, before anyone jumps off on their aches, pains, and ills, I understand some folks cannot ride or drive more than a couple of hours at a time for medical reasons, there is nothing to debate there.

AND, for safety's sake, you should stop and walk around a bit every few hours as a respiet from the boring road.

What I am talking about is the fact that any street rod that can't be driven comfortably for any distance over 50 miles has problems with suspesnion and/or seating construction or position. Now many guys will bluster up and say they don't have to be comfortable in a hot rod 'cause it's made to go fast...yahyahyahyah. I'm talking to the guys who want fast and comfortable and whose wives, girlfriends, children, grandchildren wouldn't mind it either.

You will be happy with Kilbourn

I bought my current ride because it was a great deal. Also it belonged to a friend of mine who has cancer and he had to sell all his toys. This car is a driver, When I want to step up the best you know I will be talking to Don, In fact, The day before I was to wire Don money to start on a car, I bought this one. This a an unpaid endorsement, If you want the best talk to DA34 GUY.

Dennis, I know you were looking at one of Don's roadsters, but I don't know if you had the opportunity to check it out in person. If you're looking again you need to fly to Prescott and meet with Don. You already know he's a first class guy who builds first class cars, why look elsewhere?

Seems that this Rolla MO builder has a good name (from what I've read on this thread) as well. It' going to be worth your time and money to check him out too before making your decision.

I'm thinking you're having some buyer's remorse over your current highboy. Am I right? Either way, educate yourself the very best you can BEFORE making a decision this time.

As far as room ??? TONS OF ROOM ! I use a 6 way power seat - I'm 6' tall and weigh in at a cool 275lbs. I have knee trouble but ride VERY comfortable in my Kilbourne Deuce 7-8 hours at a time .. Doug's number is 309-538-4560 .. Oh yeah - and MY Deuce has the hot rod stance !!

I agree that my car's interior could be a bit more comfy. The 4 inch chopped roof combined with my 6'1", 260, 60 year old body makes for a comfortably numb ride if you don't mine sitting like you're in a chaise or having you head touch the roof when you sit up. The suspension probably needs work too. Probably could use some air bags on the M2 front but can't get them for the Vette IRS rear, so will have to settle for either the current glass spring or convert to coil over. In any case a lot of money for a day trip. I don't even do 5 or 6 hours straight in our daily drivers because I got out to get gas sometime. With the streetrod sometime comes about every 2 hours or 150 miles @ 15 mpg. With the Olds I could drive all day if it weren't for gas -- it only gets about 120 miles to a 20 gal tank. The biggest problem is numbness - feet, legs, butt and sometimes, brain. My wife swears that the day I tried to make Lou'ville in one day was the day my brain went numb.

When I was younger (30 years ago) and had a harder head and ass, three friends and I left York Pa on Gold Wings on Sunday morning and were in Denver by Monday night. Nearly 900 miles a day on two wheels gives you plenty of tiime to reflect on sore body parts and the existence of supreme beings.

I've been driving a Kilborn for 5 years / 7,000 miles.. Well built -steel reinforced and fits a boxed frame very nicely .. If I were to buy again , I'd buy a Kilborn .. Ask for Doug Nall - he's the owner .. Kilborn Illinois is approx. 20 inutes form Havana Illinois .. Hope this helps .. -HighGear-
