I recently had a couple of people from u.k. e-mail me and wanted to buy my mustang. One wanted to send check and mail the difference back to him, so he could contact shipper. The 2nd person wanted to wire transfer money to my account, but I gave him the bank's routing number, to say the least, I never heard from him. So be careful. Jack

MUSKRAT close that account! If they have your bank routing number you could be in a WORLD of hurt! Talk to your bank immediately and let them know PRECISELY what's transpired. Good luck, hope you don't get hurt!

you should see how many emails each day get filtered out that contain these scams. we keep a database of all the attempts and it's growing quickly.

Closing the account may not be necessary depending upon the bank. If you only gave them the bank's routing number and not your account number, then it is unlikely that the bank will proceed any further without further identificaiton of account. (Doing so would open them to litigation and penalites from the Feds). However if you gave then specific identification such as your personal account number, by all means close it asap, otherwise there may be nothing left to close.

When it comes to email, I trust no one unless I know the individual sending, with the exception of recent SRC solicitations which all get filed under "Junk".

Jack, that is always a scam. There is never a situation where that is not a scam.

Gee Al, nothing wrong with the Brits. According to my e-mails the last couple of months, they have made me a very wealthy person. I have won a lottery over a million pounds, a contest for over a million pounds(STRANGE DON'T REMEMBER ENTERING). A new Peugeot automobile,(strange the Brit;s would give away a French car). Seriously tho, i have been getting a lot of scams supposedly from U.K. lately. Seems i read somewhere a lot of these are originating in Africa. Stay on your toes guys,,

FYI.....keep in mind that even with legitimate wire transfers (it's done all the time) I would suggest you go to the bank and open a NEW account for that one transfer so as to keep the "bad guys" away from your current bank info. .....My 2 sense?

If they are out of the country and not willing to come and look at the car. Stay away from them, 99.9% of the time it's a scam.

If it looks like poop and it smells a l'il bit like poop,..................................Do you really have to stick your finger in it??

Besides,...............American tin is already pretty damn hard to get. I sure as he*& ain't sendin any of mine overseas.

I only deal with Americans and then only face to face to face. The third face being of a dead president.

Sorry if I offended any foreigners, but chances are we weren't going to be fishin buddys anyway.

I wouldn't worry about offending anyone when it comes to money. It's either a straight up deal or it isn't. I've bought a number of cars from internet ads and my statement to sellers is this: I'll be there in 48 hours and I'll bring either a cashier's check or cash. I've never backed out on a deal, but came real close on one over actual mileage. It was a roll-over being sold as low mileage. The idiot dealer selling it hadn't noticed a previous owner had scratched the dates and mileage when he changed oil into the inner fender paint, or if he was aware was hoping no one would notice. We did have a change in price verses my calling the local D.A.'s office. I don't mess around when it comes to my money and I don't give a damn if I ruffle anyone's feathers who seriously needs to have their feathers ruffled.
