I've got to travel to Houston and was looking for a couple of good bars,food joints (especially BBQ!) and the like. Any suggestions???

Our fag'n'lezo parade gets put on network TV. It's huge...many Americans come for the solid week of party. Not been but have seen the aftermath once when i had to go to the airport at 8 on the Sunday morning after, some sorry sights I can tell you, make-up drippin, wobbly legs, sun blazing, oh dear!

Thanks guys..the trip was a sucesss BUT how come NOBODY warned me about the GAY PRIDE PARADE!?! We were trying to go out to dinner saturday night and coming down Westheimer was the parade...man it just gives me the willies just thinkin' about it.

There is a really good BBQ place on Kirby sort of close to Bissonet, it is called Goode Co. BBQ. There are a few Goode Company restaurants there but the BBQ is the one you want, their ribs and brisket are great.

Leon- Unfortunately we'll be flying in so I can't stop by and harass you (DARN!) . We're going to the M.D. Andreson cancer center so we'll be staying in the Bellaire area around 610 and the Southwest freeway (59) so if you can find us a couple of good food joints that'd be great..Thanks!

Try breakfast at the Bellaire Coffee Shop in the center at the traingle of Bellaire, Bissonette, and Crosstimbers just off the west loop 610. A touch of hometown America in the neighborhood. Good, cheap, hearty and a wonderful quirky waitress named MaryAnne. She's a peach!



Lunch? How about burgers at Prince's, on 59 between the west Loop610 and Hwy 288 South. Also other locations, a Houston tradition since the 40s.



BBQ...oh there are so many...ask some folks at MD Anderson, they'll steer you right!!

Pick up a copy of the Houston Press everywhere inside the loop. It's the free "alternative" newspaper with listings for every Bar and Restaurant in town, every alternative music venue, and lots of other alternative life style stuff (don't leave it out where the kids can get their hands on it!)

As far as Bars, I can't help, not my thing... But FOOD!!! You comming to the right place, If your driving in you will be comming right by my shop, exit 785. Let me know what you like and what part of town you plan to be in and I see what we can come up with, If you stop in around lunch I'll fix you up with some good BBQ. I have a younger brother that can let you know where the night life is...
