Hoping that someone here can recognize who made this bracket. I am taking Shine's advice and trying to find a taller front shock mount bracket to give me more stroke on the shock. Since it sits so low, I bottom out on the big dips in the highway. If anyone can look at the pics and recognize who made this bracket or where I might get one like it but taller I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks Shine for the advice.

McDuff, Magnum Axle Company is still around but to my knowledge they do not have a website. They advertise in Rod & Custom magazine and others.

Shine, I was planning on getting out in the garage over the Thanksgiving Holiday and doing some measuring. Work has been a bitch lately with long hours and I don't even feel like going out in the garage when I get home. I do have the dimensions of the shock written down out there. I will spend some time looking on the internet this weekend to see what I can find. Thanks for the offer to make me some new brackets. I may take you up on that if I can't find something. Although you might not like us guys that like the polish and shiny stuff! HaHa

Thanks for all the help guys. I definitely will get this fixed over the winter and hopefully fix the vibration with a new torque converter.

Since I put the progressive and stiffer springs in the car, I am going to see if I have a problem. I am going to put new snubbers in so it doesn't hit and it looks like I will have about 1.75" of travel upward before hitting the snubber. I didn't really find anyone that could bend that heavy of a bar, but I am still asking around. Once the cruisin season hits up here, I will have a chance to talk to some more people that are familiar with the shops around. I appreciated the picture that you sent. As you said a picture is worth a thousand words.

i believe magnum axle is now owned by Pete&Jakes in Missouri. your 4bars remind me of T C I. it's hard to tell. you could just make a new bracket 1-1.5" taller. looks like you must have mustang steering box? the spindles almost remind me of early chevy, 1954. i believe total performance catalog have a picture of all the pads they sell.you could pull one of yours & compare. hope some of this helps

Sorry I didn't get back to you earlier...Roundie-round is the oval track racers. Go look at the Carara shocks (hydraulic) that they have there and see if they won't solve your problem. Yes, they offer feel good chrome.

I'm sure you have looked at installing a shorter shock? How much more travel do you want? If you found one that is for example 1" shorter in the closed position you would pick up an inch . I am not a shock expert, but JUST A THOUGHT. Dale

Buick1, I have tried contacting Pro Shock three times to no avail. Their website doesn't list the same part numbers, but I thought of just talking to them with all of the dimesions to see if they offer a shorter shock.

RC57, unfortunately I am having to find out things like this the hard way. The guy that I bought the car from has moved and I haven't been able to contact him to find these "little" things out. I was really a naive first time buyer and just saw a beautiful car that I could finish and afford. The car was started in 1998 by a guy that owns his own shop. I am pretty sure that he welded the frame up himself and put all the major drivetrain components together and painted the car. The guy that I bought it from had it 2 years and worked on it a little at a time. He didn't get all of the details from the original guy so my information is sketchy like knowing it is a crate motor with an aftermarket cam. That's all I know for sure. It seems to run great, but will need a tune now because it is pinging a little under hard acceleration. I showed the car to a local guy who builds streetrods and he offered some good advice, but I wanted to see what my "streetrodding.com" buddies had to say. Anyone who has knowledge and can identify some of these parts, I am all ears. I will have to replace the brake pads some day and I don't even know what they are. The local shops aren't much help if you can't give them a model and year that they can look up on their computer.

In the good old days we used to set the timing without any equipment by going out on the road with a few tools and move the timing til it would barley ping when in HIGH gear and we put the pedal to the metal from 40 plus MPH. If it is an automatic, don't let it downshift for the test. Just a HINT of a ping, and you will be close.. You need to list every question you think of as you think of such so when you do find the builder you have same at hand. I swear by my keeping a note pad and jotting down as I think of such. I don't trust my memory. Hang in there, times will get better.

Rich-Thanks a million for looking that up. I will do some searching to see if that is the one. It's getting time to retire the 32 to the jack stands for the winter.

Thanks guys for all of the input.

RC57- I am not familiar with Magnum. Is that the company name that I can search for a website?

Willy's33-I'll show my ignorance but what is a "roundie round shop"? Do you recommend Carrera shocks over the Pro Shocks that I have? Do they offer the chrome look like I have on the car now?

Buick1-excellent idea of the notepad because as Shine mentioned my CRS is so bad that I write a note to remind myself of something and I forget where I put the note!

What I would do is go to your local speed shop or roundie round shop and get a pair of Carara (sp) shocks to fit your application. Take your shocks off and see what travel you need and the length both open and closed. A 3254 shock is 3 way adjustable, has a 5" travel and is relativly soft. These are not gas shocks too. The price should be around $40 or less each.

I just wanted to update all of you nice guys, including Shine, on the latest with these questions that I asked. I found a gentleman at Total Performance Inc who was a great help. We were able to agree that their longer upper shock bracket bolted right in place with my old one. I also have gone to the progressive spring in the rear of the 32 to help with that setup. I still haven't had great luck in tracking down the Magnum stuff to make sure that is what I have. I am an old fart that wants to see it first before buying and not all online info will give you that degree of certainty. I also bought an installed the new torque converter and just fired up the 32 this past weekend. I think my vibration is gone, but only the seat driving on the road will convince me of that. Thanks again to all of you for the information and advice. This is still my favorite website. I read it everyday!
