Removing scratches in clearcoat?

Any tried and true solutions? And no I don't wan't to buy a buffer (I'm cheap!) but I am willing to rub or polish all day long. Thanks guys!

hand rubbing on todays clearcoats is like pissing into the wind. if you dont want to machine it then put a ton of wax on it.

how bad a scratch????Meruiars makes a product called clearcoat scratch remover, that will work on very minor scratches.......or have Shine repaint : )

They are the little swirl marks from washing with a (I admit it!) an unclean cloth but they are there and I just want to get to a "slick" look again.

there is no quick fix for this. you will have to machine it with fine polishing compound and a foam pad.
