Fact or fiction? Someone told me if I drive my blower motored 34 Coupe, no hood with an air scoop and 2- 4's in the rain, water will accumulate in the cylinders and possible cause internal problems, like bent rods. This person is a reputable race car driver and I don't want to damage an expensive engine. My feelings are that the engine will expell any water by itself by design. This is my first blower motor and want to be careful. Any thoughhts? Lyled

LYED, IF THE INTAKE VALVE IS OPEN AND WATER DOES GET IN . THE NEXT THING IS COMPRESSION STROKE. WATER DOESNT COMPRESS. IT WILL DESTROY YOU ENGINE AND YOUR POCKET BOOK TOO. AS LONG AS YOU HAVE FILTERS SO IT DOESNT COLLECT YOU'LL BE OK UNLESS YOU GET INTO A FROG CHOKER.

If you get caught in the rain, and you are concerned, just turn the scoop around to face the windshield, and drive the dam thing. Shine is correct in saying water does not compress. With an open hood car you need to take extra measures others with hoods may not.

Little know fact...paper filters that get wet are no good anymore. Seems it compresses the paper and stops up the holes. Whatever you do go with a washable filter(s). Hydraulic locks, water or Gasoline, are NOT healthy for an engine.
