I have a 34 Ford three window and I,m in the process of replacing the door hinges. The interior has been gutted and I want to replace the lapbelts with a three point retractable seat belt system. I have looked at all of the parts books and haven't found much. Can anyone give me some ideas as to what they have used in the past.RB's is the only parts book that even lists them. Thanks LyleD.

I have the Juliano's 3 pt belts in my 37 and they work great. Relatively easy installation, the tough part is figuring out where to mount the upper 'pully'. I've got mine into the wood bracing for the body. Haven't had to test how tight it will hold in an accident, and hope I never have to. The other parts are mounted through the floor with Juliano's anchors. There's also an advertiser in the small ads in Street Rodder that sells OEM 3 pt belts. He's located in CA and seems to know what he's talking about. A buddy of mine used his and worked out well. Not as much color selection as Juliano's, but definitely good quality stuff at a lower price. Good luck with the 34.

I read an article some time back about the hazards of 3 point belts. Seems that in RARE cases the belt will cut into the neck in an accident. I think the auto manufacturers are trying to come up with a design that will work better. Something in the "H" design but not a hassle to put on each time you get in the car. When installing belts of any kind do two things. One, make sure the mounting points are strong enough to hold (1/4X20 thru fiberglass doesn't get it) and follow the instructions of the manufacturer. If you get a set out of the junkyard, measure the mounting points in relation to the seat and duplicate it on your ride. Two drawbacks to a 5 point harness is the hassle of putting it on each time and you can't lean forward to check the blind spot!

I used Plymouth Sebring (or is it Dodge) convertible seats in my 36.... the seatbelts are built in and the seats are perfect leather (tan whish is the right color for my car)... no hassle with the "B" pillar....the width is right 20 - 22 inches wide... leaves me enough room to squeeze a console in (with arm rest to lean on).... but if you don't need seats or love the ones you have then this won't help...
