I have a 34 Ford with a Vega cross steering set up. I purchased a billit cover for the Vega box. I now have a stiff ,sticky area at about one quarter of a turn both ways. Is there a process for setting the adjuster screw, or a place to start.. Lyled

Yes, if the box is not worn out it can be adjusted. First, make sure none of the parts of the steering are worn out (tie rod ends, kingpins...etc), next make sure the new cover is not rubbing on something (remove, try steering...same problem?). Now remove the tierod from the pitman arm. Turn the steering wheel lock to lock to find center. At center there should be a little resistance due to a detent in the worm gear. To adjust, back off the lock nut on the top of the box then back off the spectre screw until no detent is felt. Now tighten until a LITTLE resistance is felt, tighten lock nut. Check the smooth operation of the front steering before hooking up the pitman again. Grease, install and feel good about a safety inspection of the front end. Everyone has done that this year...haven't you?
