It it an abbreviation, I know the Dodge Chrysler Plymouth deal but what do the letters MOPAR stand for? No one in our group knows. Also what was the first year for the the Fat Fender identification? I know I'm getting too deep in this Street Rod thing. But what the Hey, when I get my engine back I'll have something to do. lyled

Years ago in the late 60's and early 70's, when my friends and I were all running MOPAR muscle cars, it was said that it was an accronym for MOtor PARts. I believe there was a Chrysler/Plymouth Motor Parts Division and they change the name on there parts boxes to MOPAR. This, of course, could be bullhocky, but that was the understanding by all of the MOPAR gear heads at that time. Just like Detroit being known as the Motor City, or MOTOWN. As times change, meanings change, maybe there is another meaning for MOPAR.. If anyone knows differently, let's hear it. I for one would like to know.
