Has any one had a problem with the Maval cross steer rack setup for the early ford. It seems like it's not a simple bolt on kit that fits all. The rack hits my frame and will not fit. It seems that it makes a differance as to where you mounted your steering box on the frame.Any help??

No problem. It is a pretty slick setup when you get it in and adjusted. Upside: Increased ground clearance, reduced steering effort and no play. Downside: noticeable bumpsteer, which was probably there with the vega setup. It can be purchased through other vendors that have friendlier return policies.

32, yeah it makes a difference. My vega box had a 8" pitman arm, not a 6" and the tie rod end was not on the steering knuckle, it was actually part of the tie rod, so the steering rod (part of the kit) was too long. Ahd to cut it down and rethread it. Anyway, the original vega mount had some 1/4" or so spacers on the frame mount that kept the rack away from the frame. Is your frame an original Ford or an aftermarket? The rack is made for the original type of frame with a 96 degree angle.

My frame is from pete and jake.I guess my concern is that they dont tell you any of this is there advertiement. I also found out they make a differant bracket that is 1 inch longer but they dont tell you about that one till you call with a problem.

Have installed at least a dozen Maval racks in the last year. Never had any problems with the product or their customer service. It's a no brainer swap to convert from vega cross steer. Yes it does have to be spaced of the frame 1/4 inch. Good luck

32 highboy, yes to all your statements. I had the same trouble last winter when I attempted the install it on my 32 Sedan. The gent on the phone told me to cut off my existing steering box mount and relocate it to fit their setup........ on a long time finished car. NOT! Then got a big attitude when I wanted to return it. Great....... I still think it's a cool idea though. Just didn't work for me. By the way, don't give me attitude......my 2cents.

I also found out that they are not very friendly on the phone.
