Who out there, besides me, is tired of dealers like Fastlane Classics or Gateway Classics, dumping 6 - 10 ads at once, and bumping our ads off the front page. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy looking at their rods, they always have some nice ones, but give us little guys a chance in the limelight! Now I see that they're even invading the hot topic discussion page with their ads.

Eric and Big Al. Is it possible to give these type of bigger dealers a page of their own? I for one, would still look at all of their ads.

Lets hear from the little guys.

todays rods should be the ones posted today. after that they need to move down. it's the same cars week after week because everyone is updating everyday.if a dealer post 5 cars at once ,post one a day for 5 days and stop the updating. or just do away with it all together. you cant please everyone so some times you just gotta give up.my cars for sell are on my web page so i dont put them on the home page. maybe the dealers should do the same.

I wish there was a way to please everyone but it's just not possible..you get bumped off you're unhappy... they get bumped off they're unhappy..... the dealers are paying advertisers who naturally have more cars than individuals.... I too don't care for some of the newer stuff and we have ask them to only put cars out here that rodders would be interested in... I try to look at everything that's added... I see a 2000 Plymouth convertible and it turns out to be a Prowler.... if it's something I don't think would be of interest I delete it.... one thing about the dealers is they keep adding fresh cars to the site.... fresh is what keeps people coming back... so it's a "catch 22"...

Slow down guys. We're loosing the point here. I'm just unhappy that we get bumped so quickly from the front page where all the action is. I think Fastlane Classics, Gateway Classics and the others have every right to advertise on this site. They always have some of the best looking rods and classics, newer and older. Its just hard to take, when you update your ad, and its already off the front page within hours because a dealer just added 10 rods on top of you. It would work out great if there was a dealer page and a private sellers page. I've been advertising on this site for years, and everybody knows that you always get the best responce when your on the front page!

Posted the same comments back in November. Don't know if there is anything that can be done. 34, if you up date your add with, say a letter, does it post it back to the top of the ads? Just wondering.

easy fix......remove the ability to modify an add to move it up. only insert 1 dealer car a day. some of the dealer cars showing up have little to nothing to do with streetrodding. who cares about a jag limo. it belongs on ebay.

Don't worry , Al. No matter what, we won't leave your site. It's the only one I like! I just think that a seperate header for businesses selling vehicles would be welcomed giving the guys selling onesey, twoseys, a chance of a little more exposure at a quick glance. I know we can all use the search option, but I think 34, and a lot of others, would like as much exposure as they can get when selling their vehicles. I think us regulars see the changing list as we visit daily and know when something new is added, but the guy that visits less than daily might miss a couple unless he uses a specific search. I know a couple have caught my eye but were gone the next day.(off the front page). Like you stated, it's a catch 22. I do not envy you but I will support this site no matter what happens. This is one of the few sites where we can discuss issues like this openly and get a response back other than "too bad". Keep up the great work and c'mon sspring! I see that Gateway has that going on in many sites on the net, but to be honest, and this is just how I myself do it, If I am looking for a particular car I just search the ads and try to find what I am looking for specifically. I like the way Big Al and Eriq have the searches set up.

Al, all of what you say is fine, IF you know what your looking for . I'd make a bet that the majority of buyers that look at this site have "X" amount of dollars to spend, and settle for what they can afford, not what they'd like to have.

Here's a suggestion: On the home page, at the bottom right, you have "Up Coming Shows" search. You already have it up on the top left search area. Do away with it on the the right, and make the right side all "Today's Rods". It would at least give us a little more time up front.

Any change to an ad will put it back to the top on the front page... now having said that everyone will start making minor changes to their ad and bumping one another off the front page (it's happened before)... so Eriq fixed it so you can only do it once a week... if it becomes a problem again we will make it once every two weeks or month.... here's the crux of the problem (and maybe the answer is to remove the list from the front page)... the more savvy guys realize that being on the front page gets them maximum exposure and when they learned that making a change puts them back on the front page.... it became a bumping war.... the result being that the same cars appear over and over on the front page.... nobody (especially me who is out here 12 hours a day every day of the week) wants to see the same old cars in the new car section..... when that happens guys get pissed and quit coming to the site....we have about 7000 searches of the car ad's every morning.... that's people coming to see "what's new"....they see the same old cars over and over on the front page they (1) assume the site isn't attracting new sales (2) realize what's happening and go someplace else... so in the interest of everyone we need to keep the front page list fresh....

Prime example. I have someone comming over this afternoon to check out my car, only because he was messing around at work on the computer last Thursday night, as my ad swiftly ran across the front page. He wasent looking for nothing in particular, just wanted a streetrod in my price range. It could of been the next rod that came along next hour. The idea here is that I caught one! Its kinda like fishing, you aint going to catch nothing if you don't throw your worm out there once and awhile! I watch the numbers when my ad can only be seen by a specific search, and there a few, but put it on the front page, and it becomes hundreds.

Big Al. You still haven't answered the question about the possiblity of a different section for each. How about a little change to the front page. You say people come here to see whats new, but I say people come to to see RODS. New ads, old ads, it don't matter. People love to dream, and sometimes it takes awhile to make up their minds. I would just like the best chance I can get to be out there when they do.

well i aint been in trouble for a while so heres my take on it. put the dealers in there own place. i too am tired of them hawking late model crap. most every streetrod they list is overpriced by 5k. i would take cars off the home page so we dont see the same stuff everyday. i've actualy stopped going to the home page because it never changes and the same stuff is for sale. BUT this aint my site....just my opinon.

I spoke with Eriq and we are in agreement that with 15,000 members and 10,000 visitors a day there is no way we can please everyone... I personally would like to remove the issue by taking the cars off of the front page.... what Eriq did say is that he will add a search button option, to the search page, to only show the newest cars.... (Last In First Out) and it won't be affected by changes to an ad... so the search engine will be even more flexible... Shine I promise to try and update the front page more often... I should be doing it daily... some days I do... most days I don't... PS I don't think seperating the dealers out of the mix is a good idea... they do bring some quality cars to the table... there is already an option to let you see only pre 1949 cars for those that only want to see street rods....

one more thing you guys can consider to make your lives easier. we've created a highly customizable search interface that lets you find any car you want using a large number of criteria. i would suggest running a search for the kinds of cars you want to see. then bookmark the results page and any time you want to see your custom search results you can just use your bookmark
