Looking for info on shaved door kits---Anybody have any info on Spal kits versus AutoLoc kits? Also, how do you determine the size of the solenoid---I see sizes from 15# to 100#. This is a for a Willys with Bearclaw latches.

Jim

Here's a link to the kit I like to use. Much better than those heavy solenoids and not as noisey.

I use these in every door kit I do. Even on the factory heavy doors and have had no problem. I have had problems with the solenoids from autoloc and thier remote systems. I once went through 5 new ones to get one that worked. Not good odds for me and never again will I use their stuff. I only want to do it once.-Brant

Hey, Jim.......got a NEW pair of Auto-loc #SL35. Advertised here. NEW in the blister packs. 35 pound solenoids, bracket, hardware, wire harness, waterproof button, cable, clamps. Paid $75 each, take $40 each plus UPS. For photo and tech call 410 535 1933 or email a1933@aol.com

I have Auto-Loc in my 4 rods on AutoLoc Keyless control transmitters. Never a problem. Even have battery kill controled by the clicker. Have the spare kit because on last '37 the body maker installed same kit by mistake, free.

autoloc sells cheap imported knock-offs of other peoples stuff ! I won't have their stuff in my store. A bear claw does not need a heavy pull if all is installed correctly. I try to use a medium (35#) pull solenoid just to ensure that I don't over-tax the unit. But a lighter one mounted in a straight pull would do the trick as well. A quality remote system and a properly wired (with relays) unit will give lots of 'opens' without problems
