Any ideas about a metal vin tag to be put on a new chassis? I have an original title but the car has a new chassis with no vin number stamped on it. Most DMV require a vin tag on the rails.

I say don't check with them on anything because they with think you are trying to put one over on them. Happened to me. Just stamp the numbers in the frame on the driver side and tell them "Yup...factory"! Don't even use the tag.
Get off the trailer and drive

Many state's issue titles to new-construction vehicles and issue a VIN tag with the "new" vehicle's assigned number to be placed permanently (generally meaning riveted) in a specific location on the vehicle.
See new post "VIN VIN VIN, who's got the VIN?" for more information.
Gotta be careful Each state is differant on requirments of vin location. Check with local DMV before doin anything. What MFG and yr car ya talkin about?
