Regarding the current "New Nova" thread, I'm having trouble understanding why someone would part with their hard earned cash for something they haven't seen. Although I almost did that once. The car a 57 Chevy Wagon was on eBay, it was about a 4 hour drive from my house. I talked with the owner several times. He told me the car was straight, rust free and with new paint. The purchase price was low enough that I thought you couldn't get hurt on the deal. The owner wanted a wire transfer and $100 to deliver the car. Thank God I came to my senses and went to see it before purchasing it. If the owner had it outside, I wouldn't even have stopped. It had new paint alright but no body work was done before they painted it. As I looked down the sides at all kinds of ripples, the owner said thats the way all 57's came. Wrong on that. Dents were everywhere. The car was nothing like he had described. I woudn't have bought it for any price. I learned my lesson. If you haven't seen it, don't buy it.

Had a friend put a deposit down on a '46 Ford coupe he saw in a trader mag. Called the guy and he said it was a coupe (front pic only) and only rust was under the gas pedal. When he got there it was a 2 door sedan, rust stopped at the door handles and the guy lived in a run down trailer. Couldn't get his money back because the guy had none. Got mad and said he was going into the house and get something worth the deposit. Came out shaking his head and just left.

Buyers need to beware when doing business with someone out of your area that you don't know. Even if you are not dealing with a 'crook', sometimes communication (or lack of) causes misunderstanding. Buyers need to do their homework, ask questions, ask for documentation, etc. DON"T ASSUME anything...CHECK and VERIFY information. If you can't see it yourself, have a third party look at it first. I've bought and sold cars out of state (some sight unseen) and never had a problem, but I also had a car built by Taylors Custom Street Rods in Ohio and have had nothing but problems. My fault for paying up front without thoroughly checking out the finished product. I learned a lesson. Bottom line...unless you go check it out yourself, it's a dice roll.

I didn't have the opportunity to see New Nova in person, but based on the other cars I've seen Don turn out I'm hard pressed to see how it could possibly be anything but great.

I'm way too picky and I know it. I would NEVER buy a car sight unseen! If I can't see it in person I don't need it that bad!

Airplane tickets sure are cheap insurance!

I too have bought and traded on the internet a hand full of times, full cars, parts, services, etc, knock on wood, I have never had a bad experience. I do keep in mind that everybodys idea of a $35000 car is different, so I dont mind very small problems, its the big stuff like cracked heads or blown rearend that would suck. I ask alot of questions also, and try to get a good feel for the person I am buying the item from. It also really depends on what your buying, a pile of shit 426 hemi Cuda might look like hell, but it is a goldmine, and I have had guys want to trade me their S-10 trucks that they put $50,000 into, sorry its still an S-10 that holds no value.

pre 111 I think I read in the previous thread that you're in the computer business, with your background you should be able to post some pictures of the "defects" in Nova. Lets see what your talking about. Hope you both can work this out. Peace!

Hey

I spoke to Don Schneidt 5 or 6 times on the phone about the nova and also read the thread he did on the car in this forum were he states the car was perfect.

and all his friends kissing his butt i thought the guy was ok too deal with.

Besides all the problems with the crap workmanship

he sends me a SALVAGED title and he told me on the phone

that the car had a clear title.

Here in Florida with that SALVAGED title the car is SCRAP

and can not be registered or get Tags

He has broken the law.He will pay we have already heard back from The Arizona Attorney General Terry Goddards office.

Scam 2 – Failing to Disclose Salvage/Rebuilt History of Vehicle.

A salvaged and/or rebuilt vehicle is one that has been damaged so severely that the insurance company of the previous owner of the vehicle considered it a total loss. That is, it was severely damaged. Insurance companies will then take the vehicle and have it rebuilt and restructured, however, rarely if ever is the vehicle restored to a safe condition. To that end, every state has a law regarding the disclosure of the salvaged history on the title of the vehicle (known as a “branded title”) and requires that certain notification of that history be given to the potential consumer in writing before the actual sale of the vehicle. Any failure to disclose a salvage or rebuilt history is a violation of law.

I'm still very curious. We still haven't seen any pictures, but talk is cheap; and as they say a picture is worth a thousand words.

With that being said I must include this, Based on the year modle, type of car and the date of the insurance claim.

Depending on the date of the claim and the condition of the car it wouldn't take but minimal damage to cause an insurance co. to total a 60s modle car, especially in CA. CA has been known to force Insurance Co.s to remove pre smog cars from the road for little or no reasons.

First of all let me say Im not taking anyones side on this issue

Glen, As we discussed on the phone, You have fault in this for buying sight un-seen and Don has fault in Non Disclosurer. So to rectify this I offered to help you with the title, So with that being fixxed the remaining issues lies with your lack of research.

So I have a suggestion that may resolve everything. If Don will step up and take responsability for the title work. You can step down and take responsability for your means of buying the car. Issue resolved with no Lawyers, and we don't have to keep this BS up.....Fix it and move on.

I would still like to see pictures
