A rear wheel cylinder on my 56 Chevy was leaking. Checked Danchuk's catalog and the price was $17.95 plus shipping. Tried Advanced Auto Parts and none in stock. Tried NAPA and cylinders were in stock for $12.99 each. One time I needed a VDO temperature sensor and called VDO who asked if a NAPA store was nearby and gave me the NAPA part number for the sensor. Luckily they had the sensor in stock. I need to remember to try NAPA first. They've saved me time and money.

I remember needing one of those cross steering tie rod ends the ones with the hole in it, I think Pete and Jakes sold them for like $79.00, one day I was looking at an old post office Jeep, and there it was!

Around $21.00 from the Jeep dealer!

I've worked in the automotive aftermarket NAPA, and others for 25 plus years, they can get just about any part for vehicles from the 30's on They are on of the last PARTS stores that give a damn, and most have compent parts people that will help I'm not trying to blow their horn just the facts.

yep.....all ya gotta do is find someone that can read a catalog & gives a s*%@. It is indeed amazing what is hidden in the catalogs....if ya can get the manager to save you the old catalogs as they replace them they have a goldmine of stuff that is not "in the computer"

Yeah, I found Kanter had a fuel pump for my 401 Nailhead for $79.95. I be damned if Checker didn't have one for $19.95! Not in stock, but they called me at 8:30 the next morning to tell me it was in, no additional shipping.

Guys who can read something besides the PC screen are invaluable!!!

You know NAPA,and in Mo. O'Reilly Auto Parts, have a lot to offer. If you can find someone old enought to help you out. Most parts houses have young people working behind the counter.Maybe that is because us old farts are retired and building what we only dreamed of while in high school. At least in high school there was J.C.Whitney,small catalog, with lots of pages of model a parts.
