My 56 Chevy had a water leak inside the car this summer. I plugged the line to the heater and kept driving the car. I just located a heater core on eBay, had it flushed and pressure checked and am going to replace it. Aside from the heater core it could also be the 2" rubber line between the core and the water valve, or the water valve itself. Has anyone removed the heater assembly from a Tri 5 Chevy lately? How much of a job is it? Any tip's or suggestion's?

Cover the living S**t out of the carpeting. Not too bad a job. Little easier to do with the battery box removed. If you want I can scan shop manual and send it to you if you don't have it. Just take your time and should be no problem. Check the hot water valve also.

Any chance you & wife are considering cool air? Go with new Vintage Air that will have a new heater in it. It is a nice bolt in kit. Will add value to your Chev.

Ken, I would really appreciate it if you would scan the shop manual. Please email to gman0046@aol.com. Thank you.

Ken, thanks for pic's, I think removing the battery box will be a big help in removing the heater hoses. All in all it doesn't look to difficult, I'll probably do it in the next few days. Thanks for your help.

Jim your right about air increasing the value of the car but with Christmas coming $1100 stands in the way. I only paid $20 for the heater core. I eventually will put in the air it's just going to have to wait awhile. Thanks for your input.
