Another Nat's has gone by. This one marred by excessive heat and humidity, strong thunderstorms which resulted in many damaged vehicles, personal injury such as kyhotrod and the destruction of the Streetrodding.com tent. One real plus was the ability to meet and get to know many of the participants of this site. Even though Streetrodding.com tent was only up for the first 2 day's, we had a pretty good turnout. I'm sure I'm speaking for all us, we really appreciated the tent, soft drinks and water. Thanks to the Streetrodding.com staff and American Autowire who provided the cases of water. Next year things can only improve.

It was great seeing everybody and other then the storm it was a great experience. Congrat's to Steve (Rods, hawgs and dawg's) on selling your 34 Ford, and hope your dog problems are under control as well. What's next ? Dave as alway's, enjoyed seeing you and your dad, I wish you luck on selling your 34. It will sell as it's a super nice car. Kyhotrod, glad your recuperating. I can't understand why you can't reach me on my cell. Are you dialing the 502 area code? The 2005 Nat's are now as indelible as the 92 flood, we'll always remember it. As far as the damaged car's go, I just hope the tent companies insurance covers the damage and that they don't try and use the " Act of God " clause. I'll keep y'all posted, as I know the owners of the three car's that were damaged by the Streetrodding.com tent .

Seems like every Nats has a certain "character" about it. Just like the '92 flood, I'll remember the storm of '05. For those of you who didn't make it, I'll give you a couple of examples: The rain blew so hard from every direction, it actually blew through the air cleaner in my buddie's (hoodless) car and filled some of the cylinders with rain water!! Not so unusual you say...except that it was a 55 Caddy cleaner turned backwards with the openings towards the firewall. Fortunately we were able to do a quick diagnosis on first attempt to crank it. We pulled the plugs, drained the water and all was well. Only a trace amount got to the pan that "flashed" out after warming the engine at idle for a few minutes. Another friend was having his car inspected in NSRA safety inspection tent when it collapsed on his steel '34 Ford. Keep in mind that all these big blown away tents were anchored with 55 gallon drums filled with concrete!!

It was real good to hook up w/ Tammy, gman, nickvic, da34guy, kyhotrod and his lovely wife. Gman and I tried to find Dave Hughes but we missed him. I trust kyhotrod will have a complete recovery from his shocking experience. I sold my 34, so now I'm like gman - no driveable pre-49 car. My car drove away to its new home in the Toledo, OH area.

Many thanks to BigAl and Co. for providing the tent and also to American Autowire for the water - it came in handy in the extreme heat. I took several pics that I will be uploaded shortly - stay tuned.

A fellow from Iowa shot a video (with his digital still camera) during the storm, he's supposed to be sending it as as soon as he gets home. More as I know it.

thanks to tammy for holding down the fort (no pun intended). only other one i saw was nick driving by a few times. aside from the weather blast, it was a good show. with the new addition, i don't think any more than the 11,000 will fit unless they pave the grass area.
