The Streetrodding.com tent is no more. It was wiped out during a severe thunderstorm and high winds that swept through the Louisville Fairgrounds at approximately 3 PM. During the storm, Brian Haney (kyhotrod) while trying to hold the tent down, was stuck by lightning and taken by ambulance to Louisville's University Hospital. Fortunately it appears he will be ok. Numerous vehicles were damaged by flying tents and chairs. I will keep you posted on Brians condition. Not what you expect to happen during a "fun" event.

Sorry to hear that guys. Remember that those tent poles act like lightnig rods in storms. Glad to hear everyone is OK.

That's really bad news...I've been thinking how much fun it would be to be there sucking on a cool one under the fan cooled tent and never thought about the possibility of the tent being blown away by a thunder storm. Glad Brian is okay. The weather there can be really wild. Has everything settled down and is the show back to normal? Did it damage many cars? Hope all is well.

Hey gang. Appreciate everyone's comments. Hope to make it back to Louisville Sunday. I really appreciate everyone gathering up our stuff yesterday and putting it in our truck and helping us out. It was great meeting with everyone, too bad it had to end so soon. I feel really sick about the vehicles next to us that were torn up. Real bummer, but I guess it could've been worse. A Nats to remember, fer sure.

Here's some photos from Friday, plus a couple more videos.

In regards to some questions about the NSRA Nat's, 3 streetrods across from the Streetrod.com tent were severely damaged. A 39 Chev 2 dr sedan has in my estimation at $10,000 worth of damage, it was a nice car that was for sale at $42,500. Also damaged was a 38 Ford 2 dr sedan and a 37 Chev pickup. Both have thousand's of dollar's worth of damage.

The new building that was under constuction last year is still not finished, a temporary chain link fence around a portion of the construction area came down on several streetrods during the storm. I saw a dumpster on the fairgrounds that was chock to block full of pop canopy frames. They say the storm had straight line wins of 70 mph. It wasn't the place to be.

Brian, so glad to hear you're okay. As I am sure you know you were one lucky dude. Lightning can leave many permanent scars, not the least to mention, death. Body work on humans ain't as easy or as cheap as it is on cars. Hope you can get past this bad experience and enjoy the rest of the show. BTW, do you glow in the dark or have new super powers??? Just checking.

I was two rows west of the tent when that hit. We were very concerned when we saw what the area looked like afterward. I hope everyone is ok. We had just left. It went from just cloudy to gail force winds and rain in nothing flat. That got pretty ugly. I've been in some storms but that got scary. We took cover under an unattended tent with two other rodders. Took all 4 of us to hold it down. Yikes! Well, hats off to everyone that put out the effort together at the tent. Thanks to Autowire for the much needed refreshments. I hope that the rest of the weekend is better for you all! Jaybird

I just spoke to Brian Haney (kyhotrod) , he's been released from the hospital and was back driving his streetrod. His truck also suffered some damage when the tent frame came apart but nothing like some of the damage other streetrods I saw had. He was very fortunate his injuries weren't more severe.
