Anyone know if the cowl on a 39 Ford Pickup is the same as a 40 ford Pickup. I have a nice set of front sheetmetal for a 40 truck and have found a nice 39 Cab. It would be a good way to use up some parts.

I believe the '39, '40',& '41 are all the same cab, then in late 41 the cab changed to the '42 style that they made during and after the war.

These are the trucks:

32 all by itself

33-34 similar but not identical

35-36 flat one-piece windshield folds out, similar but not identical

37 split windshield...more 35-36 than 38-39, foldout windshields all

38-39 similar but not identical, foldout split windshield

40-41 similar but not identical, split fixed windshield

42-47 similar and damn near identical, split fixed windshield

I have a driver '41 Ford pickup, and a '41 builder truck, the '39 & 40 standard will work on '40 & 41 truck, the front cowl is a little different than '39 truck, but have heard of it being done. I also have a '47 Ford pick up, They say '40 & '41 standard dog house can be made to work on '42, '46 & '47 with some modifications, hope this will help you! The old Dude

I'm not sayin' that you can't do this swap but it isn't a bolt-on. It's been done many times, like truck cabs with passenger car front sheet metal, ain't nuthin' new, just forgot about and then remembered.

39 DeLuxe, 40 Standard & DeLuxe passenger car front ends can be MADE TO fit on the pickup but are NOT a bolt-on. The cowls on trucks and cars are different and there the fit has to be MADE. The 40-41 Pickups do use the same three piece diecast grille as the 40 Std. passenger cars.
