Speed is about how fast do you want to spend!

I am almost ready to get my steering linkage all connected up and welded up. I am fabricating some bits, and having to weld a small recess into my crossmemeber so the steering u-joint won't bind. Anyway, I will need to use 2 u-joints close together at the steering box to get the shaft up and away from the steering box and to the outside of the motor mount (basically it will run right along the top of the frame rail). In the rear I am using a stock Camaro dual u-joint with a rag joint built in. My question is (due to inexperience), will one Heim Joint suffice to support the shaft in the middle, or are 2 required because I am using 4 u-joints? 2 seems like overkill to me, but I want to be sure I'm doing the right thing. Thanks! MC

I would use two just because of the twist involved and it will feel better.

Thanks -- Perfect. Mine is similar to the last one, but it has a Universal right at the Large D-shaft coming out of the firewall. Says I need (2). Thanks for your help!

For your application after what you explained to me. 2 joints are better ,after it is tacked in place pull off you heim joints before any welding the heat will change the hardness of the heim joint and will wear prematurely or fail

M2 Jim. Using a Thunderbird power rack and block huggers. Because I used a tube style motor mount (for more rigidity), I need to get the shaft up and above the frame rail. I plan to bring the steering out in the stock location in the firewall (but about 1" to the left). BTW, you are always plugging Yogi's and I made my first order with them last week-- they did great! Thanks Cris-- Looking hard at that Lincoln Mig 140 welder... I have a 10% off coupon for Home Depot that expires in a couple days. Mark
