Is there a new trick to log into the new site? Everytime I type in the text below # after my name and password it pops back to the original screen with a new set of #. What am I doing wrong?

New Site Try this it should work. Remember you might not be logged in on the new site so you will need to remember your user name and password.

Brian, It did the same thing to me yesterday. I typed in the security code numbers several times, never got it to work. Today I try to log in and just get an error message.
That is exactly what is happening to me. Everytime I type those #s in, the page comes up with a new set of #s. It even seems like it dumbs it down to less #s but same result. Can't get on.

Also when I try to look at a Forum message, it goes to a page with some pictures of Shine's new room and the Corvette. This happens no matter which message I pick.
On the events page, it didn't have the Nats coverage from Tammy (it seems to be one behind normally).
hmm, ill have to take a look at that, i thought it was working properly but maybe not. this is why the new site isn't active for everyone yet i'd rather find these bugs with 50 people using the site rather than 5000 hehe. i really appreciate all the feedback you guys give me on problems you're having. it makes my life busier but i need these things
please post any and all problems in case i missed anything! im currently working on getting the layouts correct so we don't have overlapping images or text on text
skeet, i see youre logged in properly now i've been responding to your emails but it appears you haven't been getting them for some reason. the links you're referring to were messing up the page so i removed them for now while i try and fix the rest of the stylesheet. baby steps
dixie, can you point out an example? your current post shows your info correctly. skeet, i appreciate all your help as always i couldnt do this without you!
eriq, I am having to log in through the back door as I cant find the log in site on the home page. I go to log out and put in my information and it lets me in but that is a pain. what am I doing wrong? Also, have you not yet engaged "emotions"? silly question I know.

Very most upper right hand corner of the Home or main page. However, all the user functions are all run together. It is indeed hard to find. Eriq must want to keep things a secret....... (grin)
skeet, as starfire pointed out i put those links at the top right, i guess i need to work on the spacing though. emoticons will be in but theyre last on the list right now. my focus right now is to fix all the layout problems people are seeing in various browsers and then to finish the adding parts form and lastly the email system.
yeah, what shines referring to is the "middle" column of pictures on the home page, those are the 50 most recent pictures added to the "readers rides". in addition, the readers rides tab also shows you the most recent pics that people have added to their accounts.
On my computer, the info in the upper right hand corner of the home page (and others for that matter) are: Home Help Contact Us MyAccount Log Out
I dont see a Log In within this group. I can use the HELP link and get to it but that is comberson. What am I doing wrong? Also, while I have you, on the Alpha site, you provided home towns and states for the commenter's. Could we please have those again they were very helpful.

well, theres no reason to have a log in button if you're already logged in so i put a log out button there instead. if you need to log in when you are already logged in then logically you need to log out first. the log out feature then forwards you directly to the log in form

hey skeet, as to your home page suggestion. there arent just cars for sale but that list also contains any new articles, news items and any discussions begun by our advertisers so we can get the infinite wisdom of shine et al right on the home page. it just so happens that our classifieds area is especially active lately. given that, do you still think we should change that list?
I get into the new site but can't go anywhere when I try to. I try to read a thead and the add a comment page comes up. I seem to be loged in alright. When I want to look a car for sale it comes up with no picture or info. Whats wrong?
41 Kustom That's what is happening to me as well. If you log out on the new site you can look at the info ,pictures ect. but can't make comments in the forums. I just use the old site for now till Eriq can get it all working.
Eriq, I liked the old site's home page with each new item in its own catagory.(Classifieds, Forums, articles)
I just went back and looked at the "whats happening" section of the home page and there is nothing there but rods for sale. I would do something else but that's just me. Rods for sale is secondary whereas discussions are primary for most of us. Make a link to the new rods for sale and put it on a tertiary page. I find this distracting and sort of confusing - but then that's just me.

I tried the new site again this morning. Same thing is happening again. When are going to take down the old one. I have a feeling you are going to lose some members then. I was a carpenter and have had my computer for 2 years. I can't do a whole with it so a site has to be pretty simple for me. Hope you get it managable for people like me.

i have been using the new site for well over a month with no problems to speak of. if you have trouble with it stay on the old site till it is done. i never log out of either site. it is a work in progress so there will be some adjustment. i like the new site much better and wont be going anywhere

41kustom, the whole purpose of running both side by side is to work out all the bugs since both sites use the same ill most likely keep the old one but change it to old.streetrodding.com or something like that. flagator79, i hear you but for the record, the cars for sale section gets about 10x the traffic that the forums get. still, i'll play around with it
I find the cars for sale section on the home page distracting, but then, that is my opinion. Ill bet that some of the traffic is simply because it is there in your face first thing. Again, just my opinion. It makes the home page tremendously busy and, as an aside, there are no directions for new visitors as to the ways to look at the site. I found this a strong variable on the old site.
On another topic, please tell me how to add a picture to a comment on this site. I see no vehicle to do it and I am wondering if those posts that have pictures did so on the Alpha site. Please let me know. If I am having this problem, I suggest that others are as well.

I am also noticing that I lose justification when I send my comment. Where I try to separate with paragraphs, the text is pushed together and where I try to leave a signature (Skeet) separated from the text, it eliminates the returns and the space and jams it up next to the other text. I can, again, do this on the alpha site but not here on the beta site. Wondering
Skeet ( I hit two returns to place my name below the body of the text here)
