I have seen many cars set up that way. When I asked the owers about it they said it works good--fairly easy to get to, not taking up space in the trunk or in the way of the exhaust under the car. Also you'll have a short cable run. At first I had mine in the trunk and it took up to much valuable space (wife needs room for her stuff) so now everything is mounted under a removable cover where a back seat would be if a business coupe had one. If I had it to do over I'd look into mounting under the front fender-passenger side.
You know, all the stuff that makes her look good. I must say that after 38 years of marriage she has some good stuff in there because she still looks good to me.
The original location was under seat on the passenger side on a 38 bowtie pickup, the previous owner put a new floor and mount it on fire wall i like it out of sight, italianguy36 was by house the other day we discuss it ,figure i ask the guys on this site,
I'm thinking of doing that with my battery to eliminate having it in the footwell of the back floor.... then I can put in a solid oak truck style bed.... let me know how it works out... I know someone makes a drop down mount that bolts to the frame that may make it easier... also Bitchin Products makes a fender splash panel that may help keep it clean....

Chris, I had my battery located between the rear trunk wall and the rear wall of the cab along with my ac. Battery was convenient there as I ran my emergency battery jump leads out under the floor and mounted them on a easily accessible block. I also mounted my trickle charger out of site as well. When I redid the '36, I moved the battery to the bulkhead in it's own compartment in the cabin. Put the ac under the dash this time. Worked well either way.

I have my battery mounted under the floor board and under the seat on the passenger side. It's hard to get at unless you jack the car up. I ran remote terminals in the rear on the frame. If I had built the car I would not have put it where it is. I would have put it a little more forward so I could lift the carpet and a trap door to service it or remove it if needed the same as the master brake on the drivers side.
Pickup cab dose not give any room for a battery between the seat and the cab, Skeet your set up is nice and clean ,AL i will let you know how it turns out i have 2 options use the existing st st tray that has 2 sides ,finish the box to enclose the battery or mount it in a plastic battery box that i already have .
Mine is in the right front fender well, behind the tire. Can't see it, as it is covered with a rubber splash guard. A good location for me. One drawback...it's tough to work on the battery without removing the tire.
TYCHOOCHOO, Actually no, she does not read my posts, she's a little burnt out on street rods and runs. When me and my buddy went to the Nat's, she and my buddy's wife went to Las Vegas and she actually hit a small jackpot (enough where we'll have to pay taxes on it). Just need to have room for all her stuff when she travels with me in the '37 which is all the local runs where we'll be spending the weekend away from home. That's my story and I'm sticking to it...........
Rock Valley makes a polished stainless box for the bed. Recessed or surface. Forget the fender. Be certain to run a #2 AWG ground cable from battery to one of the 3/8" bolts by the starter.
got mine under the trunk floor.(were the spare tire well is)on my 56,,secured the he## out of it to prevent damage..made a custome box,and cover.looks good
I always try to put it as close to the right rear corner of the car as possible and sink it into the floor where the weight will do the most good for traction and balance and it is easy to get to if you need to.
Chris-- After we talked, I am pretty sure I am going to move mine under that big front fender.. Thanks for your help on the EFI fabrication BTW. I'm looking forward to getting that EMS catalog, as I found a source for frenching buckets for my tail lights and license tag! MC

Mine is under the right front fender, going on 20 years now, never had a problem, but like roofcam34 said, a little tuff to work on it without removing the tire, I have a remote hook up on the inner fender panel for jump starting.
I used double "O" welders cable for the cables, the cables are only 16" long, the shorter the wire the less resistance.

Welding cables are a perfect choice , they have fine copper strands wire and a extra duty insulation on them , been a welder for 30+ years i can vouch for there durability, very flexiable too
