Shine, are you talking about the little electric wiper that mounts in the roof? I was a little concerned that if the motor burns up you would have to drop the headliner to get to it.

the wiper is behind the header panel , not the headliner. i use rainx on mine and dont worry about it. the simple little electric works just as good as any of the high dollar stuff. the ones with cable drive is noisy as hell . aint like youll dive it in a storm all the time.
dont poke the porchdog........he bites

I bought Spec. Power Windows cable drive and wiper arms. If I had it to do again,I'd save my money and go with one wiper. As Shine said, you don't go lookin for storms to drive in.
Have you looked at A1 Electric Automotive Accessories they support your favorite web site and the guys are always friendly and helpful whenever I have worked with them on anything.

I only want one wiper and plan to use Rain-x. Unfortunately, in this county you have to have wiper to pass inspection. As to the header panel, I thought mostly people leave those out on a streetrod. Thanks for the tips. I will look into these. Like the sounds of the nu-relic. Any idea who sells those or can I go straight to nu-relic?
Rain-x works great but not well recognized when you get an NSRA safety inspection. Specialty power windows and wipers have a lifetime warranty and come with an installation video. I have used the single $39 wiper and it is junk. Stay away from the itsacrap. Tried those and it is the same - junk.
I have never had a problem with Newport wipers. They should have one that fits you application. Have built 4 cars and all use Newport. Rain tested also. Windows I have used speciality, But next project will be Nu-Relic. I am sure you cand find less expensive. But two very important parts not to short youself on.
One motor, one wiper, one bottle of RainX. Wiper Ok for slow moving traffic. I reworked end of the arm to accept half of a regular blade assembly. You can use regular refills cut down and they don't flop around like the ones that come with the motors do.
Out here if you had 2 wipers on the car originally, then you must have 2 on it now! Learned that 1st hand. Can't remember where I bought my wipers, real quiet but now down force. I find that rainx works better than the wipers!..........CR
I thought that I knew it all , but..

Mark,
Locate a set of orignal 1937plates, then you don't have to get the inspections every year. Also if you run '37 plates it'll cost you a little over 50 bucks for 5 years. Locating a nice set of plates will cost more than the registration. I've been caught in heavy downpours and I would recommend a wiper of some sort. I have the cable drive system and it works good, much better than the cheap single wiper setup. On the '29 I owned for 27 years I would leave the wiper off until it started raining---nothing like getting out in the rain and attaching the wiper (cheap setup). I have heard good things about the Nu Relic's but have no experience with them.
The best aftermarket wipers I have found are made by Newport. They fit and they work great. However, another option I found was this. I am currently building a 1946 Ford coupe and I had a wiper assembly from an old VW laying around. I noticed that other than the spacing for the actual towers it looked like it could fit pretty well. I cut the assembly apart and added what was needed to correct the spacing and it fit like a glove. It has two speeds and automatic park and cost nothing but some time. It is also quiet. Probably not for every application, but it worked for me.
I used A1 Electric power windows and they were very easy to install (2 bolts each) and work perfectly... plus they support this site and have for many years

I also made a bracket to adapt the VW wiper motor to my '50 Ford and like it better than any aftermarket that I have ever used. Oh, the motor went on the '50 in 1985, used in rain, snow, and ice - still going...
Well ,as usual, you guys sent me in all the right directions. Looked at Ball, Nu-Relic, A1, Specialty, Superior, even itsacrap. The cable drive type look OK and pretty much the same but I have to say there is something about those bolt in original type from Nu-Relic that is intriguing. Ball sells that kind too for about $100 cheaper with the same Siemens motor as Nu-Relic. The 37 had the feature that when you roll the window down a little it kicks back like a vent. These do that where the cable type are just straight up and down. The original type are pricier but seem worth it. Can't see how the Nu-Relic is better than the Ball.
As to the WS wipers, I don't think Newport makes one for the 37. Didn't see it in the catalog but sent them an email. I like the VW motor idea. I even considered an original Vacuum type! I still have a few more to look at. Thanks for the heads up on Itsacrap and all your sage advice!!
Nu-relic the best, 2 bolts and they fit. Regarding Balls, Gary Ball sold the company several years ago. Not sure if the current products are the same quality. Looked at Newport for my Tri-5 and looks good and price OK but you utilize the same GM Mickey Mouse cable and transmission set up. Raingear looks like a much better option.
Mark, in my 46 Ford, I got a Vintique Inc. kit from Mac's and I really like it. It fit great, mounted and hooked up easy. And it was only about $130. I haven't used it much yet, but from what I can see. it's been good so far.
