We had a pretty good earthquake here in So. Cal. today. 5.6 or something like that and centered about 5 miles from where I live. I was sitting in front of my computer (not logged onto this site at the time!) in my home office when things started shaking. Having lived in California for 62 years, I've felt my share of quakes. This one wasn't close to the most violent shaking I've felt, but it did sway from side to side more than anything I've ever experienced. Fortunately, my wife wasn't home at the time so I didn't have to try to calm her down, but as soon as the ground stopped moving, I bolted for the garage to make sure my Model A was OK. The only damage seemed to be an 18 wheeler (12" long die-cast model) that lost control on the top shelf and plunged over the edge and landed on my freshly painted hood sides. Fortunately, they were covered with a towel and there appears to be no damage. Only after I was sure all was OK in the garage did I check out the rest of the house. No problems, just light fixtures swaying. I just find it funny that I didn't go to check on the china, or dishes, or paintings, or anything else in the house. Straight to the garage!!!!

ATTA BOY ROBERT, IMPORTANT STUFF FIRST!!! You did mention Sherry, she's okay, right?

Time to relocate the 18 wheeler to a lower shelf... in the living room maybe.

Glad you and car are fine!

I remember being in San Diego sitting at a light in a Hurst Olds looking in my rear view mirror trying to see who was stupid enough to be jumping on the rear bumper of my car. After intense looking, I saw the street light swaying with the same bounce. Felt kinda dumb not to notice I was in a quake so sat there all fussy and rode it out. Strange what we will do.

Robert, I had about ten pictures come off the wall and the water in my pool went about four feet onto my deck.I'm born and raised here so you would think I'd be used to this but this one really rocked my house,my dog is the biggest wuss you ever saw so She was quite shaken up, I'm also baby sitting Our Daughter's cat while She's on Her honeymoon and it took about five hrs for him to show his face.

Yeh Jerry. That one really rocked, didn't it! And they (whoever they are) say this quake wasn't from any of the known major faults. Hell, my house is probably sittin right on top of one of those faults. Guess I'd better get my car finished soon.

Thanks for the good thoughts guys. No serious problems though. Just shot nerves.

Robert, glad to hear that you and yours (including the rod) are fine. I love human behavior - you went to check our one of the things that brings you pleasure and enjoyment, knowing that your wife and you were ok. Nothing wrong with that behavior at all - just confirms the order of things enjoyment wise in your environment. Good for you. Hope you have no more of those things.

Hey Don. If that model had chipped my hood, I'd be able to later brag about how well my car held up to that collision with a Semi. See, stone chips are no big thing! LOL
