Need some advice. I'm trying to replace the bushings in my steering rack without taking the rack out of the car. I'm having trouble getting them out. They've got a metal sleeve in the bushing and I don't know which direction I should be going to beat them out...should I go with a punch from the backside and try to pound them out toward the front of the car or the opposite way?

Well, I pulled the rack...what a pain. I think I'd rather have a root canal. No room to work...especially the P/S hose fittings. Even with the rack on the bench, getting those bushings out was tough....never could have done it in the car.
