I became very confused when I heard these terms which reference the word 'service'.

Internal Revenue 'Service'

U.S. Postal 'Service'

Civil 'Service'

City & County Public 'Service'

Customer 'Service'

This is not what I thought 'service' meant.

But today, I overheard two farmers talking, and one of them said he had hired a bull to 'service' a few cows.

BAM!!! It all came into perspective.

I now understand what all those 'service' agencies are doing to us.

I hope you are as enlightened as I am.

I retired from the Federal Aviation Administration in a Management position and was "serviced" many times by government employees who didn't think it was necessary to perform a days work. It's amazing the waste, fraud and abuse that goes on with the taxpayers footing the bill.

As a employee of the public for the past 36 years, I probably should be offended, but I am not. We to are being "serviced" by the politicians for whom we work. Everytime there is a budget deficit, who takes the hit? The employees, not the Governor or the Legislators who crated the programs that annually nearly bankrupt the states.

Saw today on a government news site where because the California legislature cannot pass a budget, the Governor intends on reducing the hourly wage of some 200,000 state employees to minimun wage of $6.55 per hour. Cutting the pay of the employees will go along way in creating more homelessness, housing foreclosures, and health car problems for those employees who can not to provide for their families on a minimum wage.

Why not just make the legislators go without pay unitl the budget is passed instead?? They're the ones causing the problems.

I agree with orphans2 on this one.

I didn't post this to offend anyone just trying to keep things light with a few laughs.

same thing with the education system. the politicians say "it's for the kiddies" so taxpayers will get emotionally involved , but by the time the school board gets through with their pay raises & perks, very little ever makes it to the teachers & kids.

Great post Tommy, It just made my day!!! The " service " perspective just hit me too! I just opened up a new company and had to go to quite a few Government agencies to get the proper paperwork to obtain the correct license. I was seviced by all of the agencies that I went to. I'm just glad I have real thick cushy seats in my truck for the ride home!.......CR

Gman,

As a still "very active" member of the Agency from which you retired, I sorta want to be offended by your comment. But I also know that if good management doesn't come from the top down, those on the bottom (as you seem to imply) will do as they are trained to by their office.

I'm on the road every other week doing my part.

"Service" is a two way street...

PS - It was just a joke !!!

Just a thought.
