I thought that I knew it all , but..

My last hope for a Hotrodder in my family besides myself said the words that I hoped I would never hear. We were sitting at a red light and a Mitsubishi Lancer pulled up next to us with the hip hop going and the fart can muffler. My youngest said to me " Dad, is that a hot rod" I said no and he responded, "Boy is that cool or what "? Im very depressed now, He was my last hope out of seven kids!!!!

Where do you think I went wrong?....LOL..............CR

That is depressing!! My daughter ,who is 36 years old, has to ask me what make and year my cars are. Keep working on him, maybe he will grow out of it, LOL.

I hope you're right, but the other six didn't! My youngest daughter likes going to the shows but that's about it. My oldest son starts to show interest but reverts back to the japanese cars with the funky mufflers and big wheels. I wish one of them would show an interest and come out to the garage with me. I always thought that my 3rd would be the one, but all he wanted to do when he was younger was pull the trigger on the air guns. I keep hoping !!!!!

My son was in to it when he was young. At 16 he had a 29 roadster he bought from a freind of mine with his own money. It was just a body. We built the frame and got it finished. He did'nt drive it much. Sold it and bought a 38 Olds I was working on. We chopped it and he drove it about a year. Sold it. He built a 5/0 Cobra that won about all the trophys in the area. In about 2 years he sold that. He has'nt had a street rod or any other special car in 5 years, to busy with family he says. I have to admit the grand kids are in to all sports and the grand daughter is in dance and theater localy. I hope he will come back to it, he's a good builder. One grandson shows some interest but I don't know if he will come around. I quess what I'm trying to say is as they get older ther interest in things change. Some wil leave it and some will start. Don't give up hope.

My 33 yr old son likes muscle cars and wants to buy a 67 Nova. I took his 7 y.o. daughter (race girl) for a ride in my old truck last year. Squawked the tires a little & let the pipes roar, cruised up & down the road & when we returned the big eyed lass declared "TOTALLY AWSOME, dude!" She'd been to the races & really liked them but had never been in a loud car! My other son shows no interest at all and either do my 4 other grandaughters.

Naw Brant, owning a Volvo don't make you a bad person, just means you're gay!

Keep it parked next to that fence, it almost looks like louvers in the hood. LMAO

You guys....now remember you can always go the route Al and Eriq did. Find something they like and work it into hot rods somehow. -BTW check out the video of JCHobbs, SMHobbs (his daughter) ORHotRod, OilmanPat, Brian41Chevy, Reneg8d, IXLRR8, and myself on the road during the hot time show.

Dave, Your grandson is really a keeper! Thanks for the chuckles guys. sometimes the kids come around, sometimes not. We must remember that most of us grew up with muscle cars or hot rods and love them today. Our kids for the most part it was the tuners. Remember that most of us that are pushing 60 never fell in love with Model T 's that our dad did.

Seems like now days Kids Like Street Machines & could care less about street Rods. I have noticed at Shows most people with the street Rods Have the GRAY hair & the younger people have Muscle Cars or Street Machines. I just hope that the street Rods are not a dying thing.

I have noticed as young folks pass by a street rod or my '59 "red Corvette" that they don't even turn their heads to look at them but if a foreign or compact with a rat farter stuck on the tailpipe pulls up beside them, they take notice and many times comment on them - go figure.

Hey CR keep taking him to the shows my son was the same way he thought those rice burners were cool. Believe it or not he will grow out of it. He's 21 and he's building a 65 chevy PU also a 65 chevy Impala. All of a sudden out of the blue he snapped out of it. Hang in there!

Don't sweat it. He will come around. The young kids like the loud music and don't care about the classics and steetrods. There's a local show around here put on by a local Boy Scouts chapter. They let the boys judge. They pick the one with the loudest music and biggest rims almost each year. Last year I think they picked an SUV over some nice streetrods. He will come around. Just keep involving him.

THANK YOU PRECIOUS LADY. -NO PLACE HERE FOR THAT - A SIMILAR COMMENT WAS MADE ON THE "price of gas blob (raghead) . Please take a look at that one in consideration of elimination also. Thanks for your monitoring of this site -- that's part of what makes it such high quality.
