1990 Corvette 350 TPI won't start - turns over but won't start and a strong smell of gas like it's flooded.......Any clues where to start checking? (all sensors are new)

It's been in the car and running fine for about 10 years. It started, backed out of the garage, and stalled before I got on the road. Then it wouldn't start again.
Nope not fried from a battery charger. They just fail. Usually progressively, sometimes not a hint. Net result is if the MAP is not functioning the computer shuts down ignition.
2 quick things to check. Coolant sensor-can/will fail to open circuit= Comp sees -250* and pours the fuel in. check for this with an ohm meter.. A failed cat convertor will plug and block airflow thru the engine resulting in a flooded condition also... check this one by dropping the exhaust at the manifolds.. I saw a new truck engine rebuilt twice before I found a plugged cat.. That's what happens when a service manager diagnoses a problem... ok, just reread the original post.. I'd still check the CTS. I've had new parts bad out of the box.

OK - Thanks everybody. I don't keep this car at home, so I won't be able to check anything until tomorrow or the next day. From what you've told me so far, I'll check the spark and vacuum line first. Here is maybe another clue - the last time I had it out, it knocked like hell when I gassed her up going up the hill to the garage, and I did smell gas fumes when I parked it. This motor is in a 39 Ford, so there is no cat converter.
Is that a "spark knock" or was it more like an intermittent miss? If a spark knock something is causing the computer to over advance the ignition. If it was more like an intermittent miss that was probably the MAP sensor in the early stages of failure, which can cause the computer to overly advance the ignition.
