Bryant, S-10 frames came in 3 different wheel bases. If ya can talk the guy into a frame switch, it will make driving it a lot easier(power steering and brakes). Not to mention parts are more available...

Measure the wheelbase first more than likely you will be using a extended cab frame, we already had a guy with a 55 chevy p/u long bed that was converted to a 4x4 and wants to build a streetrod ,so he bought a standard cab s-10 short wheelbase chassis and he is 9" to short now they have to lengthen the frame or shorten bed he didn't do his home work ,51 plymouth? check on monte carlo or early impala chassis up to the early 90.s these were some stout chassis for sedans

s10's do not work well under cars. rear kick up comes thru the floor. graft the front part of the s10 to the original frame or use a camaro clip. i do not use mll so dont ask me about them. i've done a bunch of them and never liked the drive or the ride.

Gonna be a challenge! 1951 Plymouth's had a wheelbase of 118.5 inches. Just make sure it is a '51 and not a '52, as the '52 had a 4" shorter wheelbase. You could probably drop the '51 Plymouth body on to a '72-'76 T-Bird or Lincoln Continental chassis without too many issues though the Plymouth wheelbase is a couple of inches shorter. Too bad it isn't a '52 because the '52 is a 100% perfect fit for the '77-'79 T-Bird or Torino and Mercury equivalent chassis. In either case the track could be a side issue.

Just curious as to why you would go to all the work of a frame swap that might be iffy at best when you could stub the thing. Didn't Plymouth already have rear leafs and modern shocks for that year?

I kinda wondered the same thing as Brian. Doing a frame swap really doesn't seem to be something necessary to turn the car into street custom. No point in asking for a boat load of adaptation problems, but then when it comes to things like that you can call me "Lazy." "Ain't broke, don't fix it." "Wait long enough and it will break on its own."........ (g)

just remember to measure the frame. not the wheel base. axle center to axle center. rear end shifts, front end moves in alignment. i use the shock hole on a clip and the snubber hole in the rear. they dont move
