I will be there!!! I get excited just thinking about it..lol Staying out on 64. I hope its a little cooler than last year..I am sure GMAN will start updating us on the weather when it gets a little closer.
Dave, are you staying in the same motel? Will update the weather as we get closer. Looking forward to it. I wonder how many cars will be registered. It's has been holding steady with over 11,000 the last few years. We'll have a good time regardless. Any thoughts on having a get together for the SR.Com participants?
GMAN - staying at same exit - different hotel- somehow we lost those rooms we have had for years..Its on the other side of Blakenbaker (spelling??) not sure what the name of the hotel is- I will let you know. .I can hardly wait. I am like a kid a christmas before the nats..
If this weather don't break, you might want to tow a freezer mounted to a small trailer. At least you'd have someplace to take a nap in the afternoon. LOL. Seems like Lou'ville can be the hottest place on earth in August.
Just saw the 7 day Louisville forecast, rain 5 out of the next 7 days and only 1 day in the 90's. By the time the Nat's roll around temps will probably be the usual high 90's. Just think how nice it would be if they held it around the first week in October. I'm really looking forward to the Goodguy's event in Bowling Green, KY the middle of October, won't be hot then. Dave all the motels on the other side of Blankenbaker are pretty new, it won't be bad.
Thanks gary- I will let you know exactly which one. I plan on hitting the bowling green gg event- that should be a good one..One good thing about louavull is the huge ac buildings. Id someone say that was the largest air conditioned building in the world..Anybody else hear That??
Once there, click on the small photo in bottom left corner.
Dave,
On the above link, your hotel is probably in the area where the little yellow man is on the map.   Several nice motels plus Cracker Barrel within walking distance. Lotsa stuff out that way and lots of rodders stay there.
BTW, click on the yellow man to drop down to street view.
The wife and I will commute the 40 mile drive each day.
BTW, we're taking walkie-talkies this year that have Natl Weather Service alert built-in, so hopefully we'll get some warning if a storm is approaching.
Sure as heck can't depend on NSRA or the Fairgrounds staff to give us any warning ( I remember 92 and 2005 well).
Any way to set a time for a meet and greet--possible group picture(like the one taken at Frog Follies last year)--have met a couple of you fine rodders--would like to meet more. Have a safe trip.
Wings Callahan is the person that operates the NSRA PA system and plays the music from a trailer set up near the South Wing "C" entrance. It's also the place where you check and see if you've won any of the Super Giveaway Prizes. If anyone has a better place to meet, lets hear it.
Lynn what Executive, East or West? We could all meet for breakfast. The Executive West has a pretty decent buffet. FYI, today is probably the best day of the year in Louisville, it's in the low eighties with no humidity, just what we need for the Nats. Maybe we'll get lucky when it was like that in 2004. For those of you that are not aware it, Goodguy's is holding a "nostalgia" event including drag racing October 17-19 at Beech Bend Park, Bowling Green, KY which in my estimation is the best old time drag strip I've ever been to. The covered bleachers are up close and personal to the track. If its anything like the NHRA Hot Rod Reunion held there in June (without the heat) you won't want to miss it. Make your reservations, I'll see you there.
I remember 04 gary- It was PERFECT.. man that was the best nats weather I ever recall..... But To me any day at the nats no matter how hot is better than working I am in for the meet up whenever you get it finalized..
Saw the Louisville extended weather forecast tonight, temperatures to remain in the eighties through August 2nd, with no nineties until the 3rd. Sounds almost to good to be true. Looking forward to our meet and greet. So far iit looks like 1100 AM on Friday at Wings trailer. Whose taking the picture? Brian (KY Hotrod) how about it? Any other ideas, lets hear them .
Len, yeah there were canopies twisted and thrown about all over the place, plus the big temporary chain link fence (South Wing expansion under construction) fell over and damaged a number of vehicles.   My paint bill was only about $500.
2004 was the best weather I can ever remember and Paul Revere and the Raiders put on a heck of a show on Sat nite.
I'll bring my camera with plenty of "film". Looking forward to it.
I went to everyone that was in Columbus, almost everyone in Louisville and a few other like Memphis, etc. I don't really know all togethere. When are you guys leaving?
wed morning.-- Gotta meet the tent guy sometime wed.. Are you staying in the same place as always??- I seen the 38 at milford friday night but never did see you..
guys dont worry it will be about 70 and 0% humidity in those massive exhibit buildings so you can always go cool off... AHHH- 2 more work days and Then I am in streetrod heaven...lol
i wont make it this year first time i'll miss in about 15 yrs. found out fri. that the wife will be out of a job next month. if anybody needs a room for fri & sat nite, let me know as i'll be cancelling it today.
