Does anyone know where I can find or does anyone have a set of factory dual exhaust maifolds for a 56 Pontiac Chieftan? My dad is restoring one and would like to have a set before the front fenders and engine go back in. Thanks in advance for any help in locating a set. Oh, by the way, the engine is factory. Not sure what size as I don't know a lot about Pontiacs.

Mike - All '56 Pontiacs came with a 316 c.i. engine regardless of whether a Chieftan or Star Chief. You are in luck, as you can use exhaust manifolds from just about any full size Pontiac up to 1979 models with some exceptions. Here is what years interchange and the nature of the exception.


1955, 1956, 1957, 1958, 1959-1979 (D-port) 1968-1974 (Round port)



Your Dad's engine will have "D" ports, so all you guys need to do is find a good junk yard. Just be careful, old exhaust manifolds are fragile and almost like glass. Doesn't take much to break them.
