My memory is not what it should be so I need help.I have been going to Turkey Run for years and also Spring Show.I recieved my application for this year and price is 45.00 and I am thinking it was 25.00,am I wrong or is that spring show price?I sent email and left phone message to them about 3 weeks ago with no reply on either.I will still go but if this is a increase with gas prices what they are I am afraid it might hurt the outing.

Hey, with the motels, food, gas to get there, goodies your going to buy at the event, it's a thousand dollar week anyway. Whats another $15., $20. matter?? Look at it this way. The increase is less that a quarter of a tank of gas. (Ha, Ha) Just go and have a great time and make sure, at least one night, that you get to the Bel Aire Plaza in Ormond Beach and catch that specticle. That's where the real car dealin goes on.

Seems to me I've always paid about $30, and I haven't been for at least 2 years. We always get the early registration rate, and unfortunately sometimes end up not going. Even at $45 it's a great event. 4 days of fun and sun. Have fun even when it rains.

Unfortunately everything seems to be going up in price. I suspect you'll see at least a 10 % increase in room rates and food costs between now and Thanksgiving.

Look at the bright side, Hotrodgene. You ain't got to drive 1000 miles (one way) just to get there, like some of us do. LOL

I think it is greedy how they increase the motel rates whenever a car show is in town. Double, some triple, ridiculous. I would think the Daytona people would still make money at 30.00, everything seems to be getting pricey.

Streetrodder, it's not just the car shows that they raise the rates for, it's every special event, Turkey Run, Nascar, Bike Week, etc. We've been going over twice a year for Bike Week and Biketoberfest, the same room that cost $115 for Biketoberfest, cost $250 for Bike Week. Last August, my wife and I were in Daytona for the weekend, we thought we would see how much a room was at the new Destination Daytona (the world's largest Harley dealer, they have motel & condos there and Total Performance, Inc has a rod parts store on site ). To our surprise the room was $75, very comparable to the local dumps nearby. The room was awesome, marble floors and shower in the bath, nice upscale furniture, large flat panel LCD TV, etc. Just out of curiosity at check-out I asked the desk clerk how much the same room would cost a few weeks later at Biketoberfest, it was $300 with a 3 day minimum!!!

I have gone to the Turkey rod show since it was at the Ormond hotel and their was maybe fewer than 10 rods and rest were restored cars. Theirs no way I am going to pay $45 to be part of any show, we are the show. If everyone pre registered @ $40 that would be nearly $210.000 in registration fees alone using last year's registration numbers, that's allot of income for Daytona Beach Street Rods car club. I don't know if it is true but someone once told me Daytona racing district which controls the racetrack provides the show space for free so the district can get the vender and gate fees, Everything is just getting to expensive in this hobby and we are laying down for it

Well, it is true that gate receipts for registations should run about $200k - $210K. That sounds like a lot of money but when you look at what it's going to, maybe it doesn't. First thing, I would bet renting the Speedway for 4 or 5 days ain't real cheap. Then there is probably a charity involved, and many other expenses, like money paid to the town for police, trash colledtion, etc.

Club that I used to belong to put on a 3 day indoor car show every December with about 350 invited participants plus spectators. The show was held in a large concrete block building called the Cow Palace because it was on the state fairgrounds. Building rental for the 3 day event was $20,000. Some years it would snow and the number of show cars (all pre-paid) wouldn't show and only half the space would be used, but the cost remained the same. And then of course, there is the charity sponsor who gets a big chunk of the proceeds.

No body puts on a show of this magnitude for free, and no one expects them too. If they don't make a sufficient profit, then there may not be a show in the future. Besides $40 comes out to $10 per day. Where else are you going to go and get so much for that price.

I can understand all who don't disagree with price increase and you are correct it is a deal at 10.00 per day and incl.parking and extra people. It is my fault but I only go for one day(Saturday)

hotrodgene - I agree. That's were the pain begins. When you can only do a one day trip, the $40 is a rip. I know a lot of people who can only do one day out of a 3 or 4 day event, and when the cost hits $30 or more for that one day then it's a different prolem altogether. I've pass on a lot of shows for just that reason.

I feel that all events that are 3 days or more and costs $30 or more, should have a diffferent pricing structure. Like maybe half price for a single day instead of full price. I belong to a business association that does that for their annual meetings. Of course, their 4 day meetings run $500 and not $40.

Maybe the events, Turkey Run and others, ought to give a price break for people who live near the event and who can only attend 1 or 2 days. People who travel from afar, such as I, would pay the full freight because we are not up to making 1000 mile trips for a one or two day event.
