Can anybody tell me what determines what size brake lines to use---3/16, 1/4 or bigger? It's a glass Willys coupe with a sbc---not much weight. 4 wheel discs non-power, Mustang master cylinder.

Heat. More volume of fluid, less it will heat up.

Disc brakes drag and drums require more volume for more movement.

I agree, 3/16 will work just fine. Just to clear things up, disk brakes require more fluid volume per application than drums due to the diameter of the caliper piston vs the wheel cylinder.

its a matter of hydraulic pressures as well always use 3/16 with dics as it will produce more fluid pressure at the caliper than does a larger line. same goes with most liquids. force them through a smaller line and they 'spray' better. read that as having more pressure at the point of release. That's how a log splitter or hydraulic wrecker or a floor jack can handle as much as they do
