If heat is the answer, I think that I would try to remove it with a heat gun before I attempted a TORCH!!!! Just my 2 cents worth..CR

THE HEAT GUN WILL WORK, JUST DON'T TRY TO HEAT IT ALL AT ONCE. KEEP THE GUN MOVING ALITTLE AT A TIME USE A SHARP PUTTY KNIFE TO LIFT IT OFF

BFH will take them right off!!! Or if you want to save the glass might try mono filliment line or dental floss with a sawing motion like they do removing stick -on emblems on fenders etc.

the mirror is on my 47 Chevy ragtop--v-butt windshield. It is one of those little mirror that you can't see anything out of and if you try to adjust it won't stay--worn out loose etc.

I wanted to replace mine a few years back and when I inquired at a glas shop they told me the easiest way was just break the windshield and replace glass and miror at the same time. Needless to say, I sitll have it.

I have seen several mirrors in factory cars just fall off. Glue you buy in auto stores will not hold. Have to have the mirrors put back on by a glass shop (usually free). I suppose the heat from sitting in the sun with the car closed up, would tend to dry out the glue. Or as recommended here using a heat gun would speed the process up a bit.

ken, one more question: is it a beveled bracket glued in the center or is it flat glued off center on one piece of glass? if it's glued to one piece, you might try to heat it with a heat gun & clamp a pair of vise grips to the base. while heating, try to lightly (i stress lightly!) twist it back & forth. as the glue heats, you should be able to get a little more twist until it comes loose. whatever you do, don't try to pull or pry. that stresses the glass surface & will break it. try to keep the heat focused onto the bracket & not the glass.

Steve it is flat glued off center on the right piece of glass. Wife says it is too small for her to see out of. so I guess it is time to remove--or just park it in the hot sun and hope it falls off. Thanks all.
