Hey Guys!........here is something that you may...or may not have ever thought about !!

WHY do you NEVER see rod, or any performance magazines REALLY criticizing that some product are crap?

Hmmmm....maybe because these companies spend SO much money on advertising, that the mags dont want to cut their own throats? Can any of you guys can think of some products that are widely advertised.....but you feel are really sub-standard from your experiences? Or .....are ALL the products made......are absolutely perfect?!

Because the mag publishers don't want to lose a client or lose the ability of attacting a new client. Ads pay the bills, not subscription rates.

Here at StreetRodding.com we allow criticism of advertisers, what we don't allow though is for people to state things as fact that are just opinion. Our policy is to try and contact the company in question and ask them for their take on the matter. After everyone has had their say we usually end the conversation because when we don't, the attacks become more hardheaded and more personal and that's not what this site is all about. Everyone has their say and then we move on.

Lawsuits hurt Rat Fink! Everyone is into them these days. Even if you don't win it still costs you a ton of money because most courts won't allow you to represent yourself.

Yep !......you are absolutely right cr55.....what it costs you to go to court.....compared to that "$50"part is totally off balance !.....and as eriq said.....this why there is forums like this one !......I had remembered an old buddy who lost a totally rebuilt 440Chryco. because of a bad brand new oil pump !!......so as they say....."buyer beware"!.......still....I told him its a good idea to take brand new oil pumps apart.....just for peace of mind. we have created a society of marketing . everything is marketed. even the presidential campaign is a huge marketing ploy. i am no fan of streetrod vendors .they come and go like the flu. i only buy from a couple because i know i can trust them. it's up to each of us to do our homework on parts then decide i personally like to use as many oem parts as possible . at least they are tested and proven before they hit the market.

Hey guys, what we need is a SEMA CONSUMER REPORT Magazine - No Advertisers, No sponsors, just subscriptions. AND they buy the equipment they test so they can remain independent! I'm too old and too poor to try, but I'd subscribe! Any entrepreneurs out there?

Shine's right... as usual. SEMA advertises products just like all of the magazines. Manufacturer pays SEMA, SEMA prints what the manufacturer tells them to, they seem legit and we buy.

I like the idea you have ThunderGrunt, but it would have to be a truly non-biased agency which SEMA ain't!

Am I not saying it right? NOT SEMA, but an INDEPENDENT Consumer Report, (such as the Consumer Report) on after market equipemnt Mnufacturers ,....SPECIALITY EQUIPMENT MANUFACTURERS, The idea is NOT TO BE BEHOLDING TO ANYONE OR ANY BUSINESS.
