Why is it that every nice ride you see these days has TAN colored interior.Hasn't that colour worn out yet??? Have people lost their Imagination or are they burnt out from thinking so much about the outside , that when it comes to the inside they just say F___k it, do it TAN. What's wrong with Black or something else that may go well with the car. Come on boys and girls, Lets see something different for a change.

My 55 has saddle tan interior and it was done around 20 years ago. I changed the color of the car to match the interior after I bought it--little different there. ragtop has gray interior.

Wow, would I ever agree with the too much tan already. Car makers have been over doing it for years. I love it so much I have given it a new description: "Baby Poop Light Brown"

I agree that it's getting old but tan goes with a lot of different exterior colors and also has a warm, rich appearance. Tan leather with some chrome trim accents looks pretty classy. I also think two tone color interiors looks great. Burgundy and black, tan and brown, brown and black, red with black all look great.

I'm not crazy about tan, but it is a neutral color and works with about every exterior color. Mine is tan now, but is getting changed to bone and copper.

Most people look at a bone color interior and still call it tan. Dark Color interiors don't show very well, its hard to see details that a light color will show. And the light interior colors seem to be more inviting and comfortable "looking" to on lookers at a show. I like a good bone color interior or a rich tan, even though they are harder to keep clean than a dark color. Also like bright red interiors.

Tan? Only ones I see with tan are the high end streetrods with tan (or buckskin) leather interiors. Depending on the paint color, it can look really good. Mine in the 34 is a mauve tweed with burgundy accents. Body color is a dark maroon.

I like a white leather interior, but would be afraid of getting in dirty. Would look good with almost any body paint color.

Grey w/green inserts on mine, though going on nine years old could use a redo I suppose.Thought about going w/ a lighter color but being a mech.,I don't think it would stay nice for long.

Jeremy, I,d agree on the all red interior. The '69 mustang I,m working on is black with a red ultra leather interior and The '57 I,m finishing now is going to be all sand (light tan) it goes to the recovery room next week .

Peanut butter is good, especially with jelly, but I perfer ham & cheese. All kidding aside. I do like that color Don. When I do my "Sand" interior, I'll use black carpet and accents. Don't want to try to keep a light color carpet clean.

I like the lighter colors too, mine's going to be orange with a really really really light brown , almost like a beige-ish, off-brown type of color. The darker colors absorb the heat more. JMO. My dad's doing his '57 Caddy black w/ peanut butter- that's a good looking combo too.

Bottom line....do what you like! No one is going to invent any new colors schemes for car interiors, they've all been used. Yes, trends change and what's popular today might not be popular tomorrow but pick what you like!! Personally, I like neutral, classy, soft colors with smooth, flowing designs. Simple is good...they don't become "dated" as fast as flashy, bold designs and colors. I also think you've got to stay with the overall theme of your car. Don't mix old school with hi-tech or modern interiors.

My carpet in the 34 is red, and it's getting about time to replace. Carpet in the 57 is purple. Goes nice with the interior and the Prowler Purple exterior paint.

What about all the domestic cars built in the last 25 years? I swear everyone of them has a gray interior, American or foreign. Im tired of gray. My favorite color is any kind of maroon and I want a maroon interior with it. But you can't get them from the factory. I had a '79 Olds 88 maroon with a maroon interior. I loved that car and the interior.

we have gray cloth in the '38 since it was donated Tan may be used a lot, but there are sooo many different shades no two look the same. The'32 will have a medium brown, like a well worn baseball glove, just because i like the feel of an old well used glove, and that is how i want the car to feel.

I think now that you mention it that tan, gray, black or a combination is good because if you change the body color you most colors will go with that interior. Mine is black because......well it was already black, and I love black. I don't care if it is hot in the sun- without air and with a big block that car is always hot.

!carguy has it right! I have waited a LONG time to be able to build my "dream roadster". I have selected the body/trim colors and will do the same with the interior. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. IMHO this was a stupid thread. Each one of us has their own opinion as to what "looks right" to them.

Peace..

I've got no problem with tan or variations thereof. I'm usually jealous of those who have it. But "old blue" is gonna remain blue or grey inside. Maybe I'll try to start a new fad...I've got this Mexican blanket seat cover..... it's timeless. Come to think about it, I think I threw it out last year, it was worn & ripped & dirty, kinda Rat Finky. I think it must have been on it since it was a Texas truck back in the 70s.
I know, it's kind of a junkyard dog. Temporary carpet & backseat from a wrecked Ford van. But it's a driver.
