Hey guys I have a 56 F-100 I have disc brakes all around. I'll be cruzin then I'll be smellen brakes, as I'am going there there getting tighter and tighter. I pulled over let it sit for about 30 min then they released. I'am not sure what is causing this but i'am thinking somethings clogged in the system. I'am thinking of blowing out the system with air and putting new fluid what do you guy's think.

sound like you need to adjust the rod going into master cyl.to get more free play.

What or whose 4 wheel brake system did you put on that truck? If they are of the type with ratchet type automatic adjusters on the rear you may have caliper problems.

Thanks guy's I've been driving the truck for the last 17yr's and never had a problem but the system only has 10,000 miles on it or since I finished the truck then again we're never finished ,anyway it has a 70 camaro sub fame in front and 9inch in rear, posi out of a 77lincoln versilles. Also it does have a porportioning valve.

Are the rear calipers the ones that were on that Versailles? If they are I'd be jacking up the rear end and taking a real good look at the pad wear. The auto adjusters on that era of Ford rear calipers required the car be backed up often enough to keep from them from over adjusting.

I've got a little longer than normal driveway, but I got to thinking when I warm it up I do run it through the gears and I hit the forward gear more than the reverse. I'll have to check it out. thanks!!

I should have mentioned it is the applying of brakes when stopping from backing up which operates the ratchet which backs off the automatic adjustment. It maybe necessary to remove the caliper and pull the piston back in manually with a wrench.

Check your emergency brake, the calipers on the lincoln have a lever off the emergency brake cable, make sure you can move these freely. There is a set up procedure on these to work properly and they are known for hanging up.

Thanks guys I'll do that. I'll move the piston back in and check the play on the lever.

You may have a piston in caliper going out and not returning.I have seen this a lot when I was at dealship. If you can drive until you feel it beging to freeze up and head home so you jack it up and see if just one wheel or you will know front or rear.If it is caliper piston replace both sides.
