Speed is about how fast do you want to spend!

Seems to be some complaints about not enough "car" talk. Take a second, and think about what was the awesomist car you ever personally DROVE. And give a brief explanation why.... MC

P.S. You can only talk about ONE. Pick wisely!

No doubt my best experience behind the wheel was driving 18 laps in the Tony Stewart Home Depot #20 NASCAR at the Richard Petty Driving Experience at the Las Vegas Speedway. Unbelievable at 150 mph.

There is no way you can pick just one.............Back in '81 we went to the Hot Rod nationals in Cleveland, the guys i was with had a bunch of friends show up, one was driving a dark blue 33 coupe with twin turbos. We went out cruising all weekend........only later did I learn that it had won the Riddler award that spring. One top of the line class car, and someone not afraid to abuse it........changed my way of thinking right there.

I have had the opportunity to drive four very cool cars and an opportunity to buy one of them. The first was a co-worker's 1965 Ferrari 330 GT, the second was a 1967 Ford GT40 Mark IV, and the third and fourth were recently a friend's 1987 Lamborghini Countach and his 1971 Muira SV.

Of the four, I could have purchased the GT40 Mk IV, in 1973 from a dealer in Miami who had 2 of them at $17K each. The test drive was fantastic, but alas, the price was a bit daunting since my resources were limited and financing an old race car was damn difficult. In looking back, I should have borrowed from friends, family and maybe even robbed a bank. Who knew what future lied ahead for those cars.

Of all the incredible cars I could tell you that I've RIDDEN in, this isn't what this post is about. Sometime somebody should ask me about my ride in down town Salt Lake City in a 9-second '68 Mustang!

Although not very "exotic" the best drive I had was when we picked up my dad's '32. He drove it about 2 miles, pulled over and said "your turn". I drove it about 10 miles and we went back and made the deal. Left there, fueled up and he insisted I drive it the first 100 miles toward home... Anthem AZ to Flagstaff! WHAT A GREAT DRIVE!!!

Hopefully in a few weeks I can repost to this thread and tell about my first ride in my A-bone after 8 years of working on it!

I worked for a Dealer while in high school and Ford had a GT-40 on tour. I had to go pick it up at another dealer. It was on a trailer pulled by a 65 ranchero anyway I pulled it back to the dealer not before stopping in every little town and getting a soda at the gas stations so the people would look at it and I could act cool . Got it back and asked the owner of the dealership if I could drive it. I had to have my dad go with me. Right hand drive right hand shift 289 turbo. I can still remember how the turbo kicked in and set you back. By the way those seats were made for thinner people than me.

Wish i still had my 58 black Impala Hardtop. 280 HP, 348 C.I. with 3 two barrels, 3 on the column, Sun tach, nosed, decked, GMC truck mufflers with exhaust exiting in front of rear wheels. Not the fastest car in the world but a real fun driver. My current 56 Bel Air 2 door post, 350/ 4 speed a close second.

About a year and a half ago, I won tickets to Frank Hawley's Drag Racing School and the first time I climbed into that dragster, buckled up, pushed the START button, did a burnout, and made a pass at Pomona Raceway will be hard for me to forget. Made four runs that day. No records, but it was a blast.

My coolest ride was my first car, a 1957 Chevy Model 210 2 dr. post with a bored balanced and blueprinted 396 four speed. Did the quarter in 11.50. I LIVED in that thing, and loved every second. ( and a half!)

As of late, my friend just finished a 47 5 window pickup. It's red and sit's real low, tubbed and cliped. The cool part is a few years ago I had the oportuinity to score him the fresh 355 long block out of my customers blown alcohol altered. It now has a shiny polished blower and 2 800 cfm carbs on it instead of the injector. It's not making as much hp since it's not boosted as much, only 5 psi compared to the 20 ish it was before.

That's ok, it made 1400 in the altered........

All I can say is YYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWW!!!!
