I have had some bad problems with FRAM oil filters I thought you guys would find interesting.

On 3 different occasions now, a motor I have built or worked on has had a FRAM filter partially colapse on the inside, which in turn somehow made the oil pressure go to hell. Yesterday on my 67' Camaro Drag car, the oil pressure was only at 20 lbs on start up, and this is a fresh motor full of Clean Valvoline 20W50 Racing oil. As soon as I put a new oil filter on it, I used a NAPA, also WIX are good. The oil pressure went up to 65 lbs and stayed there, and I was using the same oil.

We had a thread about this awhile back-- FRAM is one of the worst filters you can buy. MC

Most filters now day have cardboard inner supports, Fram included. Mobil One still uses steel reenforced inards. that will keep your guts where they belong.

I used to be a fan of FRAM, now I have to many failing. Its pure cheap cardboard inside, I have cut about 5 apart in the last year, no steel at all. Just fancy packaging.

I use the Mobile One, but what about K&N? Anyone know how they are doing quality wise? I like K&N's hex nut for removal, but haven't tried them.
