I'm asking a question for my freind who has a 38 caddy his restoring. I ask another question for him and got a all Caddy web site but have lost the address. He would like to have it again. The question is on paint. His car is Pelham Gray. On the door jams it appears a brown color. The paint code is #6 on the tag. What he wants is a modern type paint, not laquer. He has contacted some paint reps but has yet to match the color. The brand of paint is not really a question. 2 part or 1 part will do. Thanks for the help.

I'm going to take a guess and refer you to the Cadillac and LaSalle Club at http://www.cadillaclasalleclub.org/

Also for the paint check out http://www.tcpglobal.com/aclchip.aspx?image=1938-Cadillac-pg01.jpg for the color guide for 1938 Cadillacs. Pelham Gray appears to have been a very, very dark gray bordering on being black. Since there is no such thing as black, only dark, dark browns, dark dark blues, or dark, dark, greens it is reasonable to assume the paint on the door jamb has reverted to its base pigment with the passage of time. Which is why it looks brown and not gray.

That was it. If I can get him to enter the site I think he would enjoy it. He has had his computer compromised a couple of times and had to have it cleaned of some virises. I told him to have a grandchild show him how to use it. HA HA. I'll see if I can et him to come around.
