I have a GM style column and when I push the turn signal lever to the right it won't engage unless I turn the steering wheel slightly to the left. It works fine to the left side, Just the right side won't properly engage. Any suggestions.?

You may have the wrong turn signal cancel cam and it may be in position, so that it gets hit by the cancel spring. Is this the only position you have problems ?In other words, if you move the steering wheel further to the right and then try to engage the signal, will it engage then ?

No it won't engage unless I move the wheel to the left. If I move it to the right it will not engage at all. The column is an Ididit column and it is new. Thought the switch was out of the proper position, but when I looked it was not.

the problem is in the relay connection to the box from the column. I mean that things were not properly aligned when installed. disconnect the column from the lower shaft, turn the wheel to 'center' it (so the canceling trigger is equal left to right) then re-attach the shaft. If you have a double 'D' shaft you will have to change the position at the rack (steering box) to get it back together. Make sure your wheels are straight before you disconnect anything and hold the column steady as you re-attach the steering gear.

I forgot to mention that the steering wheel is also on wrong. if you remove it you can see the center position on the canceling cam. After you get the linkage aligned remount the wheel
