Even though it was subframed with a 78 Malibu susp., it sat up high like a stock farm truck. I retained the stock A-arms, spindles & 10 1/4" power disc brakes, but tossed everything else. All new moog steering linkages, bushings, ball joints & bearings. The old stuff was all 30 yrs. old factory original, except the later gas shocks. I went with QA1 ride adjustable ProCoil/Over shocks designed for GM susp. after returning the QA1 Economy models 'cause they just wouldn't fit in. I did not like the design of the lower shock mount plate.

So here's Ol Blue before & after. I was looking to drop 3 to 4" and it came down a full 5". I think I will raise it back up 1" for better suspension geomety and clearance.

I like the before... I LOOOOOVE the after! Don't lift the front, just drop the back about 2 inches!!!

I agree with Eric, lower the back more. The lower, the better, as long as it is safe.

I agree! I thought the back was lower before, but after dropping the front, the back came up! I should have measured the back bumper height before. It still has the stock 6 leaf springs in the back. I've been planning to take a couple leafs out. Now I have to.

Don't measure the drop at the bumpers, measure at the center of the wheel which would be the fulcrum point for the rest of the vehicle. Of course if you lower the front everything behind the back hub (tailgate, fenders, lights, etc) will come up, and vice versa.

I did measure the fender opening at the front wheel centerline. It was 29", now 24". The crossmember was 11" to the ground, now 6" clear.
