Will a single wire parking light work as a turn signal and parking light. Can I hook both the turn signal wire and the parking light wire to the one wire coming out of the light. Do I need a double filament bulb. The light is set up for a single filament bulb. This is on the front of a 1948 ford truck. THANK YOU

I tried this once and it didn't work. Mine flashed both lights at the same time, because I couldn't isolate/separate the two circuits (turn signal & parking light) for the signal mode. However, I'll admit that I'm no expert on this stuff.

Won't work! The bulb has two filaments one for parking or running light and the other for turn signal. Depending on what the socket is mounted into you may need three wires. One for each filament and one for ground. If the socket is mounted on or in a metal body surface you'll only need two wires.

Just put in a new socket and dual filament bulb, that will be the quickest solution.

Isaw one time at a swap meet a set up where you can convert the single filament to a dual fillament with out removing the existing light socket

Can you actually change the socket in stock light fixtures in say.... a 37 Ford?

any socket can be changed, just have to make sure there is room for the bigger size bulb.

you can use a single filament light for both !! Just add a diode in the line and split the current. I stock these in the store and they work very well. Won't let the turn signal feed back to anything else. The unit has one wire to conect to the light and at the other end there are two wires, one for the park kight and one for the turn signal. Easy to install .

Thank you for all the information. I pulled the wire out of the socket and replaced it with a dual wire set up. It seems to work just fine. I already had it done before I read about the diode.

And my $.02 in case any others are interested. I made my own diode circiut 30 years ago. It worked great. Don't remember where I got the diodes or what kind they were. Hey, that was a long time ago.

If you used an led light type bulb, you can use the one wire and just add a resistor in the wire coming from the park lights to reduce the voltage to the leds, resulting in a dimmer park light and brighter turn lights.
basically two in to one wire only one has a resister inline before the union. Looks like a "Y".
