Must have a return line in the tank for fuel injection. Several street rod companies make the 'in-tank' pump with the sender and return as needed. Adapt that to your tank or invest in a new replacement tank made for f/i. We handle Tanks brand and can get you a quote if needed

If you don't already have the engine I would spring for a 5.3 Chevy out of the newer pickup along with the 4L60E trans. Should be able to pick this combo up for $1500-$1800 range. With a 3.30 gear or somewhere there about you will get at least 23 MPG. Total cost of conversion should be under $3000. Expect to get well over 200,000 miles before it needs new plugs.

Great combo. But go to a new tank from Tanks/Rock Valley/Yogi's......stainless with built in pump & tray. Gennie tank is a no-no. Injections are very sensitive to trash.

I would strongly agree with 5.3,I had a beauiful car(streetrod ) with the six cyl.Which ran as strong as 350 but when I tried to sell it really hurt the sale.I have a 37 Phaeton(Downs)with LT1 and 4L60 trans.and it gets 19 mpg.city and 23mpg on road running 70mph with A/C.All the power you would ever want.

Bosch makes an excellent high preassure in-line pump. and with a quality filter designed for high preassure between the tank and the pump you should be fine (Fram makes a stainless one with flare fittings that works well and is cheap). Mount the pump as close to the tank as possible. As with most electric fuel pumps, they push way better than they pull. And as mentioned earlier, you will need a return line to the tank which should be 5/16" dia and the supply should be 3/8".

Hotrodgene is correct. Back in the seventies during the 2 fuel crunches, many nice rods were built with a V6. We did a big '34 Nash Brougham with a '62 Buick odd fire V6..........mistake. Upon sale, short target, short money. How much will you actually save in bucks over 4 years of cruizin' ??. V6 AC brackets, headers, etc cost more than SB Chevy.
Over the years I have done many '33 to '35 Chevies and big Buicks.
TPI, LT1, LS1.....bullet proof. Just make certain the correct pump is in a NEW tank.
Always build it on paper first.
Jim sez so.

I have customer that has a 55 nomad. Gets 22-24 hwy with it's tpi'd smallblock and 700r4, got 323's for gears. He also likes to hammer it some so the mileage could be better.

I have another customer with a 33 ford coupe a glass one that has an ls1, get 31 mpg when he travels from California to here. My blown 72 Cheyenne that I built a few years ago, was injected and had a hot 377, I got 18 with it when I was behaving.

My volvo has a 231 that's making around 320 horse, it gets in the high teens around town and 20's on the hwy. so this v6 isn't as miserly as you would think. Most 4.3's get in the 20's anyway in s-10's.

I have to agree with the others on value, but it's your car.
